I had a couple of issues with Upoads, spoke with my hosting company and they fixed it by changing the file permissions? any ideas which file needed changing? Will try speaking with hosting company tommorow.

The uploads worked on standard site flash ones, but strangely upoadsdid not work with the module, just hung there, has anybody else ever encountered this before please?

Just Curious, if anyone else had this and did they need to change the permisssions too?

The mod uses the built-in video processing procedures of Dolphin so if you have problems with videos in general, the problem will be reflected in the mod also.

Fixes the following problems :

a) Select boxes do not retain selected value when page reloads

b) Video thumbnails not being displayed on Account page

Is there any chance we could get the Flash and Embed uploading procedures for the 'Enter Contest' Block when your upoading please?

At the moment you just don't really get any indicating of the progress when using the only option of uploading from your desktop :( would be good to see a progress bar at least! Also most customers would prefer to upload using the embed feature or even use an existing video loacted within their site folders?

Just a few suggestions would make this module fantastic :)

Even tried with the same videos!

This is strange because the same video processing functionality is used. PM me your site details so I can do some investigation.

Great mod.

A few things;

1. How to disable required   age, male/female, etc.. when creating contests?

2. Membership levels-   I disabled voting for non-members and standard, the vote button is still there and when 'vote on contest entries' is clicked, it shows, "you have voted"   this is confusing to members and they have not voted, there not allowed too.. Vote button should Not be there or it should say "your membership level does not allow voting" or something like that.  A cleaner way would be to not have a vote button   if disabled for certain levels.

Also, maybe a setting in admin panel to "enable voting" "disable voting"  if contest is for site admins to vote only.

3. Membership levels--   I disabled "contest browse" & "contest view" for standard members both cannot see video entries now but also can't see Contest Prize.   Is there a setting to restrict membership levels from seeing other members entry videos but letting them join and see prizes? 
Letting them join contest, see prize, etc.   but restrict them from seeing other members entries?

4. This displays on video main page:

Category:  BX_VIDEOCONTEST_VIDEOS_CAT  
Tags:  BX_VIDEOCONTEST_VIDEOS_TAG

Great looking and functional mod, hope the above can be sorted quickly...

Another idea would be to let members use existing Videos from the default boonex Albums. I have a situation where the members are wanting to use Videos which have already been uploaded, only for me to tell them that they have to upload all over again :( This means that in fact my root/server is hosting to identicle Videos, not a prob dependant on users. But a large site might be annoyed with this. Ultimately the customers are a bit miffed by having to upload twice, if they decide to use an existing one that is!!  Then only to see this in their Albums again twice is insult to injury lol

b) Fixes issue with Vote button appearing when voting is disabled for the membership level.

c) Adjusted browsing restriction so that persons who do not have permission to browse contest entries can still view contest prizes.

An issue;  when entering contest now, get this error;

Fatal error: Call to undefined method BxVideoContestModule::isEntryAdmin() in /home/****/******/inc/classes/BxDolFormMedia.php on line 246

Can not enter contests.

View, browse and vote membership levels disabled and enter contest membership enabled. Also, have unticked voting selections in video contest admin area.

Tried with update patch and with fresh install.

I have solved that issue. Re-upload the files again.

What file formats does the Vid contest support?

I have had users upload videos only to get stuck in the processing stage forever.

My default Dolphin video module is allowing uploads fine.

Thing is, if a users videos gets 'stuck' there is no option to delete a single video so it remains in the contest and thumbnail shows, but will not play.

Yeah then you have to go into php database and remove the video from there, making sure you have the right ID...no expert but done this a few times!! PM for a more in depth explanation!

Hi, we have your Video Contest Module and since we have no way of uploading videos since that is disabled and only set to EMBED, is there a way for a person to just click on a button that allows them to select from their current video albums and it will automatically grab the description and more from the Dolphin postings in Video section?  With all the problems on Boonex video uploads, we have them post to YouTube from with the site and add to the albums in  Videos module.

So if they want to enter a contest, they should be able to enter a video that is already in their albums.

We need this feature bad or we have to uninstall the module.

1) Create contest and cannot see the contest depending on time of your connection. If server is set to GMT, then you cannot see your contest for 5 hours since we are -5 GMT. Time should be removed from contest

2) Once a contest in started and videos submitted, contest does not show up in Block in profile or in Account page.

3) Once a contest is ended, and you look for winner, it says NO contestants even though votes were tallied and registered.

4) After contest is over, and you go to the video entry, you can still vote and tally on entrant to a contest which is over.

5) There is no way to enter a video with the existing videos already uploaded and in a profile. So you have to upload a video more than once to the site which wastes space.

There is not a part of this program which works as advertised.

RESPONSE: The Dolphin script goes by Server time and my mod is no different. I never advertised in the mod that it has special Timezone settings that will override Dolphin default functionality.

RESPONSE: Contests will not show. If the member has Contest Entries, then those entries will show.

3) Once a contest is ended, and you look for winner, it says NO contestants even though votes were tallied and registered.

RESPONSE: The mod uses cron jobs to end contests. If the Contest is not ending then you have issues with your Cron Job setup on the site.

RESPONSE TO RESPONSE: The person creating the contest, and also entering the contest shows no entries into the contest in the MY Contests block on their profile,even though they have entered videos into 2 different contests.  Additionally, the entrant into a contest shows no active submissions in their account page. So the MY CONTESTS are not populating in the PROFILE page or the ACCOUNT page at all.

RESPONSE TO RESPONSE: even if the contest did not close, and it is showing open within the database, then there should still be contestants correct?

RESPONSE TO RESPONSE: CRON is setup properly, and is also running correctly for other mods and has been tested by ANTON and IDBWEB.

richmanfl HAVE YOU MANAGED TO GET A REFUND FROM THE DEVELOPER YET?

Did richmanfl mention that he was seeking a refund ? Did you notice that a patch was released after your quoted text ?

I have worked with Jerome (Modzzz) for quite a few years. He does great work, and if yu look at the fact he has 91 mods for D7, he has a lot on his plate.  He did release a patch which worked, and he is now looking at the ability to also select the videos from your albums as the next upgrade.

He does phenomenal work, as most developers on Boonex do.

Absolutely brilliant I am not saying he is a bad developer by anymeans but would really like him to modify and improve his existing good work. This will keep customers coming back for more! Lookforward to his updates regarding the album option to enter the contests.

Ok a simple question really, when the contests finishes they still are viewable in the current contests tab as previousely mentioned on here (i believe) But as well as this the winners tabs never displays the winners just blank pages when clicking the drop down tabs? So in a nutshell the system appears to be not finishing the contests? therefore then not showing up in the winners section? Strange..As stated it's probably something to do with Cron Jobs was this confirmed with Richmanfl's issue or was there some other issue please?

Have you applied the very latest patch already ?

The patch made other modifications to the cron functionality which is not mentioned as I had no proof that they solved the issue richmanfl was having but he has since confirmed that it did.

Modzzz I have uploaded your latest video contest patch 2.0.7 and followed the instructions very carefully and done as requested. IT WORKS!!

GOOD NEWS TOO: The winners are now been displayed So Thats really GOOD this patch does resolve any Cron Job related issues! Thanks Modzzz :)

Only One Problem since applying Patch:

The result is brilliant I get the thumbnails to display perfectly within the right places (profile etc), but now members can vote as many times as they want on the contests? Although in admin I check the boxes to state that one vote per day or per user this does not now function since the update? Could you take a quick look or advice me please?

Are you checking the voting with an Admin account or a regular user account ? There are no voting restrictions for Admins.

Ok I have a few questions. I noticed that there really isn't a status indicator built into the app for when the user tried to upload a video to the contest. Also if there a way to allow the user to select a video from what they already have uploaded in their album to be added to the contest?

I'm not able to upload any videos to the contest. I am how ever able to upload videos to the site. Or maybe it is tring to upload a video to the contest but there is no status bar. This causes people to get fustrated and give up on loading because they think the contest is broke.

i can't work out how to get past contests to be viewable without actually reopening them. what am i missing?

 You should see a menu option for past contests if you have the latest version of the mod.
