Every time I stop recording myself, I get the message that says "Error Processing File". It seems like it can't create a video and place it in the video comments folder.
Thank you so much for your help, Zarcon! He tried to help me get my video comment to work but nothing works yet. He spent over an hour trying to figure out why his video comment is working and mine isn't. We both are using the same JoomByte RMS server. That's really odd.
This is what I did.
- Downloaded Dolphin 7 RC2 and rename the folder from "Dolphin-v" to "net"
- Uploaded the net folder
- Installed and set ffmpeg.exe to 777
- I'm on Arvixe's hosting plan but using JoomByte's RMS for Dolphin RC2.
- Went to flash Apps/Settings and filled in. It's connected well. I can use my webcam in chartroom just fine. :)
- Comments Video Player is enabled
- I checked my Cron Jobs and it's correct. I migrated from 6.1.6 to RC2 just fine.
Zarcon and I are using the same JoomByte RMS ip server, RMS port, and RMS Http port. His site is working fine with video comments but not mine. I fresh installed it 5 times now. I don't get it. Am I missing anything?
The only difference Zarcon and I did was I installed dolphin 7 RC2 directly but he updated from RC to RC2. I don't know if that matters. Too bad i can't test it on demozzz.com because their RMS is not connected.

I sent you an email regarding this too. Since some others are having the same problems with Arvixe, they may have a PHP Function disabled that is preventing the processing of your file.
Maybe someone can give some insight on this. Does the webcam record use any other php function that is different from standard video processing?

Thanks Zarcon! I just submitted a ticket to Arvixe about this. I really hope you're right about this! |

Haha, Me too :)

I suspect it is something on Arvixe server also, especially since I am doing the same thing, using a separate RMS service, and mine is from dolphininstalls.com, and I get exactly the same error. Video Chat also works fine. And the board and video im, just not recording with video or microphone.
patrick81, let me know what they say when they respond about that ticket. I have been emailing with the owner of Arvixe and he gave me his email address so I can continue to correspond with him about this whole D7 and RMS hosting situation. I've been away from the computer a lot this weekend, but I will be working on comparing the solutions.
|
Here's what I got form Avixe. I just can't stand their respond anymore ha. I must have Video Comments for my deaf members to use Sign language. Well it looks like I have to leave. I'm just tired of this.

Greetings,
Unfortunately we do not support Dolphin 7 so we're really unable to provide assistance with it.
Nor do we provide assistance with a Standalone RMS server, as we're unable to accommodate this.
That being said, we have a bunch of customers who have chosen to run Dolphin 7 without RMS support and their installs have worked with just the typical issues you would expect with a RC build.
Regarding disabled functions, here is the line from our php.ini
disable_functions =
As you can see, no functions are disabled and we are not running PHP in safe mode.
If there is anything else we can do to be of assistance, please let us know.

I think it's best to use RMS on the same hosting company. |
Thats a good way for a host to say, "Im sorry you are having issues.... really..but I cant help you". Hey Patrick, I have a suggestion for you. How about coming over to the same people that have your RMS with. I KNOW it works there. If you would like PM me for more details.
Chris

I agree Chris, but Joombyte only has annual accounts available to host a D7 site. $240. I checked to verify that. They did say that you get 30 days to cancel with no questions asked and full refund if you want to try it.
They only offer their separate RMS hosting on a month to month basis.
Patrick, are you on a shared $7.00/mo. account at Arvixe? That is what I have. I assume that we may not be able to get them to do anything because of that.
I expect I might have to keep Arvixe for my other sites and use one of these other services for the D7 site. I'm going to figure it out quickly, but I am trying to compare Bandwidth and Space as well as shared vs vps vs dedicated and how much you end up paying. there are also bandwidth limitations on the RMS hosting part and that varies depending on which you get.
Anyway, I am getting as much info as I can find now and contacting them to be sure I understand it. Probably have it compared by tomorrow.
|
Thats really sad to know Patrick :(
I am on Arvixe as well and was planning to go live on the first week of Dec with RC2 release as it looks pretty stable and was thinkin to use JoomByte for RMS like you tried. But now it seems that won't work as you guys are saying....
Can't we get the tomcat support on our Arvixe shared hosting a/c and install the latest RMS and make it work someway???
|
Ok Guys, I have spoke to JoomByte and was able to get you a bit of a break. Understanding that it is still a annual payment plan, If you sign up with JoomByte, you can get 25% off your first year of webhosting. When you go to checkout, use the coupon code of 'dolphin' to get your discount.
So for the Dolphin 100 package = 180.00 (comes out to 15.00 per month for the first year) and Includes the RMS.
Sorry, Its the best I could get.
And NO, for those wondering if I work for them..hahah. They have just treated me extremely well :)

Thanks Chris, I guess they are pretty Dolphin friendly too.
I sent an email to the owner of Terabyte Hosting just a few minutes ago asking about his plans and recommendations. He also is setup completely for D7 rc's. I think they just host Dolphin sites. I want to see what he suggests for month to month or low cost start. I'm going to send him the link to this thread.
|
oh, you guys probably already know him anyway, but let's see what he says. |
Finally!!!! I got my Video Comments to work! :D I explained everything to Arvixe with more depth about the issue. This is what I told them.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I just don't understand how one person who is hosting JoomByte and using Joombyte's RMS RC2, can run video comments perfectly. It has nothing to do with dolphin 7 or RMS, it's something to do with "between" Arvixe and any other Standalone RMS. This is what I have found so far.
Guy#1- he's hosting JoomByte and using joombyte's RMS RC2. Video Comments works 100%.
Guy#2- he's hosting Arvixe and using dolphininstall.com's RMS RC2. Video Comments doesn't work. "Error Processing File"
Me- I'm hosting Arvixe and using JoomByte's RMS RC2 (I went for JoomByte's RMS because Guy#1 told me it works). Video Comments doesn't work. "Error Processing File" Same error.
It tells me that Guy#2 and I are having the same issue, using a separate RMS service. We're 100% sure our dolphin 7 RC2 is installed correctly. With our standalone RMS, everything works great- video chat, board, video im. Just not recording with video or microphone. We think it has to do with Arvixe that prevents us from recording a video.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I guess they finally understood what I was trying to fix. Their response…
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Greetings,
The issue with remote RMS servers is that the ports on the server cannot be the same as our RMS ports, and we need to know what ports you are using to be able to open the ports in our servers firewall.
Can you please provide us with the ports you are using for the remote RMS server that is in fact different then our own so we can update our firewall and see if you are then able to connect.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I gave the JoomByte ports and now it's working. :D If you guys are going to use JoomByte's standalone RMS while hosting Arvixe, It's ready to use! I want to thank you all for helping me. Without Zarcon and ronklein3, i would never been able to solve the problem. :)
|
Great to know Patrick.. Woo Hoo !!
Chris

ronklein3, if you still want to use dolphininstall.com's RMS, you have to give Arvixe their RMS ports so they can open them in their servers firewall. |
Thanks Patrick. I put in a ticket to Arvixe asking them to set it for mine also. Hope they do it.
Also, DosDawg asked me to post this offer for hosting from http://terabyte-hosting.com:
Ron, this is what I am willing to for this situation, was not able to post to the forum from my phone.
Regarding the Dolphin Mighty package, I will discount the price to
$16.50/monthly for the first year this is with RMS. Discount coupon
will be RCPLEASE. This sale will be available in the next two hours and
run until Dec 31,2009. Please post this in the forum if you would, just
as zarcon did for joombyte, because their main focus is joomla.

LOL, Ronklein3, Not sure why DosDawg cant post in the forums, but JoomByte not only handles Joomla, but also Dolphin. You can see for yourself below:

No hard feelings though :)

I hope you aren't saying 'no hard feelings' to me. My only hard feelings are how long of time I have wasted trying to determine what to do.
But as far as DosDawg's message, I just posted what he wrote to me, as he requested, and for no other reason. Also, I suspect, as he said, he could not post it from his phone. I did not question that.
I also put a ticket into Arvixe and gave them my RMS ports from dolphininstalls.com and they said they made the changes to their server, but it still doesn't work. So I guess there must be something else in the mix also. Who knows?
|
Im sorry you are having issues Ronklein3 and I hope you get them resolved with your host. And no, that statement was not directed towards you. DosDawg emailed me and explained why he couldn't post. Just didn't want to step on anyone's toes with posting web hosting info :) Nothing to see here |
so what, am I doing his dirty work? lol... |
hey guys, I still have the RMS problem with recording.
The dolphininstalls.com guy said he installed RMS rc2.
Arvixe said they changed the port settings in the server to match my RMS settings that I have from dolphininstalls.com.
Still same recording error.
Is there anything else that needs to be done that you guys know of?
I know I can just switch hosting, but I am trying to be nice and not just switch, same way I have been with Arvixe. Also, Jimmy, from dolphininstalls.com is very nice and trying to figure it out, so I didn't want to abandon him too quickly.
Thanks,
Ron
|
Hey ronklein3,
If you can record yourself just fine (before pressing the stop button), you are using RMS RC2 otherwise it would say "Connection Error - Click OK to reconnect". Arvixe is the problem... I'm sure of it. They did add my ports for me and it didn't work so i went online on Arvixe site and asked them to add my ports and make sure they are open in their servers firewall. They added again and i checked again, it worked immediately. I think it's easier if you go online and talk to them. Plus while you're there, you can check your site every time. You have to bug them. I hope you'll get it soon. |
Hey Patrick, thanks for the advice with Arvixe. I am just tired of bugging them at this point and I suspect they are tired of me too and those chat sessions take so long.
But I guess I will have to spend the time and do it, or change hosting.
Thanks again.

HI Patrick,
I moved over here from another thread. Have exact same issues as you but now Joombyte tell me:
"Sorry but we can't
support connections from our competitors website. Arvixe is our main
competitor. You would need to get hosting from us our transfer to our
services."
I told them I think some existing users already are doing this. ie pointing their dolphin install 7 on arvixe to joombyte standalone...right?
So wonder what the deal is.. shameless attempt to get me to move. my client aint interested in that.. Any suggestions? Could you confirm with support that this is fine. or perhaps not ;) as they may now tell you . you cant do what you are doing. Anyway , I am looking for suggestions
thanks

Hey Stu, What Joombyte is telling you is, they cannot assist with connection issues when you host with a competitor. You will need to contact your web host to have them open the ports your need. Hopefully, Patrick will get on here and tell you exactly what you need to supply to them

Hi Chris,
Well they dont SAY that. they say we cannot allow connections from a competitor.. he explicitly states that.. I replied to them how dim this was.. and to clarify but they have not responded. Yeah, I was hoping Patrick will join in here.
Are you sure you dont work for them? or its your brother in laws company ? ;)
Anyway, I am about 10 minutes away from officially being on vacation for a week ( just need to send off a few reports) .. so this can wait till then I think.but knowing me. I will check in later
Thanks again for all your help though, and here is my official "Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" comment ;)

I wish I could help, but I already moved my site to Joombyte. I never got the remote RMS hosting to work on my site with Arvixe. I decided to keep my Arvixe acct. for my other non D7 sites, but I plan to outgrow a shared server account pretty quickly on my D7 site, hopefully. Everything works properly on Joombyte and setup was really easy. They have a 30 day money back guarantee. I am happy..thanks to Chris |
Hey Stumegan,
You can keep your Arivxe account and use JoomByte RMS standalone. Arvixe already opened two ports used by Joombyte so it should be ready for Arivxe users to use JoomByte standalone RMS.
I use the RMS 100 plan for $4.95 for now. It works great with Arivxe.
http://www.joombyte.com/content/view/58/63/
I hope this helps.
EDIT: it's strange that it didn't work for ronklein3... hm we all use the same JoomByte IP and ports. Weird. It should work.
|
Hey stumegan and patrick,
I never changed to Joombyte's RMS hosting when I had my site on Arvixe. I was working with another company dolphininstalls.com and did not get it to work with their RMS hosting. I decided to make the hosting change to Joombyte because I did not have anymore time to work with it and reason stated above.
stumegan, I recommend trying it with your Arvixe hosting and Joombyte's RMS hosting like Patrick is doing, since it does work.
I never had any problems with Arvixe. I have a few other domains there, they are a good hosting company. I have used several others and would choose Arvixe over most.

most likely its an issue with the RMS, or a port not being opened on the server.
are you on a VPS or Dedicated?
