The ticket for this item appears as resolved, however further testing on the online demo still generates error.

First, upon recording a video comment (before I could not get past the issue noted above, which seems to have been solved through the RMS connectivity problem), we get this screen (note the incorrect message inside the red circle):

After this nothing happens. Page refresh throws this error:

Perhaps this ticket has indeed been resolved, and the fix has not been applied to the online demo. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

Thanks, Alex. I do have the latest version. I see that there is an active video comments-related ticket in Trac, perhaps there is a connection there?

I have tested the regular Video Record module without a problem, so my issue is solely on the video-comment area.

Can someone leave a video comment on my demo profile at demozzz to check it out (username m4rtin)?

Please, can somebody point me to a video comment on the online demo for B8 to confirm this has been resolved. I keep on trying, but it does not work and need to confirm it is not my system.

I have been looking into this issue with Luca for a while...if you want to email me I will let you know how to fix it, or you can see my post here.....it is a pretty simple fix actually....what happens is some people have the wrong codec and it automatically fails your video comments....email me @ staff (at) pingzy (dot) com and I will send you the fix so that all video comments and videos will auto approve ;)

Here is the fix:

Look in flash/modules/video_comments/inc/functions.inc.php around line #181 where it says

getResult("UPDATE `" . $sDBModule . "Files` SET `Status`='" . VC_STATUS_FAILED . "' WHERE `ID`='" . $sId . "'");

and change it to

getResult("UPDATE `" . $sDBModule . "Files` SET `Status`='" . VC_STATUS_APPROVED . "' WHERE `ID`='" . $sId . "'");

That should fix the problem for you :)

That will automatically approve all video comments no matter what.  So it doesn't solve everything but it will allow video comments to show up shortly after they are posted (after they have processed, which generally takes a few mins to an hour depending on your server and how often your cron jobs run)....hope this helps...email me if you are still having issues I have a further fix that is a little more complicated.

OK, I just installed the RC release, and I still get the Connection Error message!!

Is no one out there capable of helping me out here?

. I see bug fixes for unrelated things like codes for approvals etc but this is NOT the issue I have nor others on this thread.

My client will never use this product until this resolved. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!?

thanks

Please check the following:

- if the latest RMS 7.0 RC is installed

- if RMS ports are not blocked on your server

- if RMS settings are entered in dolphin admin panel -> modules -> flash app

ong overdue response to this ( i picked up on another thread re this). But my question is ( for Alex), Are we saying that one MUST have RMS 7.0 RC to use video comments? I am on Arvixe who wont upgrade.. so I am using their RMS plus my RC1 install. I asked them to check ports and they said they are fine ( and as other flash stuff works. av chat/boards, ) I assume they are ok. Settings are as they gave me. Is there another free RMS 7.0 I can point to test whether its the version diff or something else?

anyway,. thanks in advance for any more help with this..

BoonEx do not provide RMS service, it just provide free downloadable product. Please wait until Arvix provide new RMS .. or install it by yourself .. if you have dedicated or vps server.

ok thanks, but are you saying I NEED RMS 7.0 version to make video comments work? I am trying to work out if this is just a suggestion rather than known issue for the  Video Comments problem that has been resolved in a later RMS version? Do you know?

thanks,

Hi Stu, if you have a dedicated server with your web hosting, then you need to install RMS 7 on your server to get video comments to work. If you have a shared hosting package, you need RMS from either your web hosting company or a stand-alone RMS package that does support D7.

Specific ports need to be open on the host side for video comments to work. We have had many discussions about this already :)

Yes. I know that ;) I am using a shared hosting at arvixe at the moment while I test, and as I said am using Arvixe for RMS. As I also said I have been badgering them to check their ports are open correctly. they say they are and I dont doubt them as Videos/Board all work ;) What doesnt work and never has for me is video comments, so all my instincts of 42 yrs IT exp ;),  tell me its something in the code ;) I tried RC3 today.. still not working.

Hey Stu, I will not throw out the option that possibly something is wrong else where, all I can say is what I and other members here have experienced with video comments.

I have my RMS through Joombyte, and ALL flash modules were working fine except for video comments. It wasn't until they did something on their end, updated the RMS to suit D7, then they gave me the new IP address, the new HTTP ports and asked me to try again and now everything is working.

Another member on here, who uses Arvixe, was also unsuccessful using video comments. He was told that they would not support D7 until its final release. He then went to Joombyte RMS as well. After many emails back and forth to Arvixe, they finally opened the correct ports to allow the video comments to work.

Now since you are still using Arvixe RMS, I really cannot say if its the correct version/configuration for D7 or not, but its very obvious that two of us had our issue resolved by port/version configuration.

As stated before, Im not saying that something else couldnt be wrong, but I tend to be leaning more towards some type of configuration.

yeah I know.. no problem. its xmas ;) is joombyte a free Rms? So the person you quote , I also quoted and assumed they were using the arvixe RMS not external. so that changes things. in that they just needed their ports opened to access extermal rms ., if I undertstand yu correctly. so that changes the calculation somewhat. I guess its some mistatch between RMS versions but I cant seem to get anyone to tell me what the differences are between the versions.. etc.

Anyway, I am on in testing mode at this stage so just wanted to demo VComments to client.. know of anyone who i can

use?

But thanks for the feedback tho. Im winding down this week a bit ;) so no worries ;)

Just to clarify something - is an RMS server absolutely necessary for video functions to work?  All of them?  I thought they could work without RMS, but just more slowly, or maybe with diminished multiuser performance.  Is that not correct?  I certainly had videos playing just fine on D6 and thought I could at least get it working for test without RMS.

OMG are you serious? No I am hosted with JoomByte also (RMS comes with the package). If I am not mistaken, Patrick81 has Arvixe as his web host and runs JoomByte RMS. I don't understand it, but if thats how they want to run their business, then so be it.

Sorry Stu..
