Video Comment- Bugs :(

I have tested with 7.0.5 video comment.  Finally it's working VERY well on Mac. It works every damn time.  Laughing However some bugs are still there.  sigh

It's fresh installed
Using 7.0.4 RMS
I'm a mac user.  I have not tested this on PC side.
cron job is set correctly

VIDEO COMMENT

1. When I remove the video comment by clicking the "Remove" link,  It doesn't remove all 4 files from the server…

x_small.jpg
x.flv
x.jpg
x.mp4

I don't want to keep those files that are not using on the website.  It's a wasting space.  Please remove all 4 automatically.  Someone already made a ticket for this and it's not fixed in Beta yet.

2. Video comment preview skips a lot. (I don't know about PC)  I can BARELY watch it. It like this….  start.. stop…….. start stop start.. stop…………………… done. It's awful and I can't really use it.

3. The quality doesn't look like 100% to me.  It looks like hmmm maybe 75-80%.  I'm not sure why it says "100%" in Rayz settings but it's not.

Does anyone have the same issue?

this fixed in 14922-nd revision

Thanks Rayz. I downloaded 14922 revisions and tested again... hmmm is it supposed to be any better?  Undecided

1. it still doesn't remove the files after i remove the video comment

2. I tested with H264 Codec and now i'm geting a new error message.  "Error Processing File" after I record myself.   It works fine if i uncheck the H264 box. I didn't have have this issue before.

3. The video comment preview (to preview before you post) still ugly on mac.  You can't use it at all. it's just doesn't work. did you test it on mac at all?  It's ugly.  :S

I'm not going to forget about this.  Can you please take at look at this.  It seems that the ones that fixed made it worse.  Would I as a member of my website use the video comment everyday... i don't think so. i feel it's still buggy..  video is one big part of my website  sigh.. :(

1) only x.mp4 is left on the server after deletion, and possible problem with x.m4v due to different permissions - working on this...

2) this is known problem, solution still not found .. most probably it is bug in red5.. we will try to check it again when new version of red5 will be released

3) video is recorded using preview size, but when it is played, size is a little bit more - so it maybe some resizing and due to it quality maybe not 100% correct, but if you try to view it in original size - it should be 100%.

Also it maybe some quality loss because of using compressed format for storing the video.

1. okay awesome!  Let me know and I will test it. :)

2. ah I thought it was working fine before.  I'm not 100% sure but I hope the new version of RED5 will fix the problem.

3. Okay, what is the actual size?  How can i fix this? does it depend on the width of the column in page builder?  I'm sorry, i'm trying to understand.  :)

I appreciate for getting back to me, AlexT.  I just hope that video comment will be less buggy in 7.0.5.  I have been praying for a long time.

1. Please apply fixes incrementally from this ticket - http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/ticket/2393, let me know how it goes

3. You can try to edit modules/video_comments/inc/constants.inc.php file to change the size. In the version - we leave current settings, so video will be processed faster, save server/user bandwidth, save space with relatively good quality. Making video comments too big will require super fast internet to play it without delay - which is unacceptable for wide internet auditory.

Strange.. I tested #1 and still hasn't remove the video comment files after i removed one. This is what i did.... I uploaded a fresh installation of 7.0.4 and uploaded/replaced the three fixes r14922r14928r14931 (I uploaded them in the right order).. then installed dolphin and tested the video comment.  It didn't remove the video comment files at all.. they are still there.  :/  did i miss something?

HI AlexT, I clean installed 7.0.5 beta 2. Some of them are improved but some are still buggy like preview isn't working.. etc etc. HOWEVER i tested on your demo site and it works really well. It's beautiful.  Now i'm confused!!! Then why mine video comment isn't doing very good.  I have RMS 7.0.4.  Do you think there is something wrong with my RMS 7.0.4?  Now it got me thinking.  Hmmmm :S

On 7.0.4 beta 2, I removed the video record from the website and it did removed all the files except one file, X.m4v from the server.  I removed some video comments and they are not removed from the server at all. Not even one single file.  Hmmm.. Perhaps it's part of RMS error, you think?

Thanks AlexT!  I appreciate it!

I've just tested Dolphin 7.0.5 beta2 once again and everything works very well (including deletion - all files are removed) except video preview, but preview is red5 problem most probably, we will recheck it when new version of red5 will be available.

I think that it maybe cache problem in your case, flash files are cached by browser - try to perform clean 7.0.5b2 install to the new subfolder which was never used before.
