Version 6.4/6.5 Major Problems

Let me preface this all by saying that I am moderately OK when it comes to dealing with websites, etc.  Worked for myself several years ago, and had a pretty healthy mortgage website that I put together myself - so lots of trial and error, and too many hours spent on it.  But moderately ok with the basics now.  And really willing to learn!

Regardless, decided back in the spring that I wanted to put together a niche website.  I was looking for something that would be an interactive "community" type website, which would entice people to keep coming back, etc - which is how I found the Dolphin platform.

At the time, version 6.4 (I believe) of Dolphin was all that was available.  Since I initially wanted to get this website up and running with a minimal amount of upfront investment, I opted for the free version - figured if things took off, and I was making money off the site itself by promoting affiliate offers, running google ads, etc - then I would upgrade to the full fledged paid ad-free version.

This was my first attempt at installing scripts on a website before, and let's just say that it was a bit challenging for me - since I have never had to go in and change permissions, etc.  Overall, took me about 7 hours on a Sunday to get everything installed.  But, I was proud - at least able to do it myself, for the most part.  I hated the layout of the site itself, so went to the Boonex forums to look for some templates.  Found one that I liked from a designer up in Canada-land, and he ended up installing the design template for me.

Super nice guy, we emailed back and forth alot about different nuances regarding Dolphin, and he helped me troubleshoot some things I wasn't able to figure out through trial and error on my own.

This is where the problem comes in. Since Boonex (at the time) was getting ready to release a beta of version 7, they had that offer where you could pay whatever you were comfortable with to purchase of the ad free version of 6.5 (I believe that was the version).  So, I went ahead and picked it up.  I then logged into the dolphin platform, updated all the registration codes, and thought I was good to go.

NOW the real problems have started.  Boonex has now shut down my site, so none of the functions are working - stating that I need to add in the Boonex footers.  It reads the following:

0 You have manually removed BoonEx footers without paying for the right to. Please, go to BoonEx.com and order the ad free licenses to be able to use your site without BoonEx footers. They will be automatically removed as soon as you register your ad free licenses. Please, put the __boonex_footers__ key back into Dolphin template.

I cannot figure out how to do what it's telling me to do, nor do I see why I need to add in their footers/ads when I purchased a full version of this operating platform.  I'm not sure if this stems from the fact that I initially installed the scripts from version 6.4, and purchased the ad free version of 6.5  I'm guessing that MIGHT be it.  But, since Dolphin is extremely new to me, I really don't know.

Since my website is no longer functional, none of the work that I had done to it prior to this whole fiasco is showing up on the website.  I had about 174 articles in the article directory added to the site (each was a separate page, so it took quite a bit of time to achieve this).  Also, there was customization of the FAQ section, pictures that were added, events added to the calendar, the About Us section, Contact Us section, etc.  Essentially probably at least 50 hours of work I did, if not more (I'm still a bit slow when it comes to all this, as I'm still trying to learn how to navigate through Dolphin, etc).

I've gone into the dolphin userpanel and believe that I've backed up all the files.  However, I am not 110% sure, as this is not something I have ever had to deal with.  As such, I am really in a state of paralysis, and have been for about 2 months.  I'm assuming that I could essentialy un-install everything, and start from scratch.  However, I am extremely reluctant to do so without first knowing that all the content I spent soo many hours on previously has been backed-up and can be easily imported/added (not sure the correct verbiage here) once this is done.  Also, I would want to get clarification that if everything was backed up, that the template I purchased would also be backed up, as I never received a file for the template, since the designer installed it for me himself (he's gone MIA on me, busy with his own projects and school, which I completely understand).

Essentially I just want to get this website up and running again, so that I can keep adding content to it, and start spreading the word about it so that people start participating - all without spending a fortune.  I am excited about the site itself, and have a lot of ideas for it IF it takes off, and starts generating some revenue - as its revenue I would want to dump back into it to improve it.

I spoke with a friend of mine who designs websites (not familiar with Dolphin, so he wasn't able to help me out too much) - and he said:

My Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 told me….

The requested object is INFECTED with the following viruses: Trojan-Downloader.JS.Gumblar.a

… when visiting your website

So, I guess this is yet another problem I have to deal with?!?!?!?  I know that the guy who installed my template had a virus on his computer, which shut him down for a few days while he tried to fix it.  Although I don't know how that would translate to my website directly.................  Sigh.

Here's what I have done so far:

In reviewing my account through Boonex, it appeared as though both my free version and ad-free paid version were registered to my website.  I went through, changed all the permissions through cPanel to install the ray widgets on my site.  Entered my ad free paid version Dolphin registration code in for each widget.  I then went to the advanced settings in the admin panel - and in reviewing the settings here, I noticed that it was showing the registration code from the free version of Dolphin, not the ad-free version I paid for.  So, I updated that as well.

After that, I went back to my boonex account - to review all my registation codes.  I've removed the free registration code of dolphin from my account completely.  Only thing that's showing up for Dolphin is the registration code for the ad free paid version (whew), which is showing to be registered to my website.

HOWEVER - under Ray - its got all the free registration codes for each widget listed, although none are now currently showing to be registered to my website.  As I mentioned previously, however, I added all the ray widgets back to my website, and used the registration code from the PAID version of Dolphin.  This change is not reflected in my boonex account.  And as such, nothing is showing up under the category of ad free registration codes for the Ray Widget Suite.

Its not until I click on a link from my homepage to one of the ray widgets like articles or music that I get the error regarding the footers.  The classified section/calendar are working just fine.  Although in reviewing my home page, as well as classified page/calendar page, I am still showing the banner at the bottom of the page that reads:

Powered by Boonex Community Software, with the logos for Dolphin and Orca.

Sorry for the mini-novellete - I know that I've typed a lot - not even sure if it all makes sense.  So, I'll await feedback from ANYONE on all of this, as I am really eager to remedy the problems.........

I am trying to contact a technical support in relation to my licence and other issue.

None of my widget cannot get register.  When I put the permanent licence code I received  "undefined"

Also, when someone register as confirmation page we received "login failed" but you get into the admin panel the you will find that the person has been added as member.

But my most biggest priority is to make the licence widget work.

Dolphin 6.xx release

If someone can help that will be fantastic.  Having boonex support to help is like playing a lotto. You never know if they really answer or when they answer to your request.

Please help.

The message is addressed to  all Boonex Team in particular to Liubov Li and Mike

What I think Boonex team do not understand there is some serious people posting here and buying their application in hope it will meet their need. Paying $1000 is not a big deal if you know that the software has a strong support team. Most concerns from people I have read about the compangy is the poor support provide to people like myself who spent their money based on the business trust they put in Boonex. Package for permanent licence:

1. Technical support 24/7 by email and by phone

2. Help installing the  application

I hired talents software applications developers to work on the application we had from Boonex in respect of all the contract agreement. I am a big believer to the fact everyone effort should be respected. I respect boonex hard working team at the same time I am expecting that my investement will be worth when I ask for help. Since little over a month now we cannot work on the application because all the licences we have are are no longer working. All the module licence we bought from www.expertzzz.com none were transferred to the new market place.

Despite my busy schedule ( I own two other company) I contacted myself Boonex team, I contacted the two most trusted names: Mike and Luybiov for help with no answer. When you get to that level reaching out company seniors people and you don't get any help that can be disturbing. We ( me and my team) did some search on the web too many complaintes about  the poor support. I even was thinking to take some legal action. Oh yes that is possible here in USA against any company ( Don't think because you are located in other countries nothing will happen to you. A judge can order to shut you down. That means any commercial activities from you will be illegal. The international Police such Interpol can be involved to track you down and find where you are hidding.). I still think Boonex team can improve the way they do their business because I want to see them succeed. All they need it to be little more organize from the management standpoint because it doesn't seem to be case. May you guys are thinking about that.

I am making the following suggestions:

A.  Create a real knowledge base for people with paying licence. That knowledge will be linked to the licence. Here there is a good chance to make more money. Because some support people working on boonex application can pay money to boonex to acces that knowledge based information and offer their service to those who are not experience boonex tech individual or who do not the permanent licence. I am ready to pay little extra money if I am coonfident I will receive the support level in timely maner.

B. Trying to match the company workload ( especially support request) with its working team. Become a real business by registering in USA with the Better Business Bureau ( BBB). Don't be afraid to do that. If you really trust your application and your work it will save you many critics. Here in USA people will spend money on your application if they have a way to reach you out or contact someone in case of problem with the application. The success of any software product depend largely about the quality of technical support. Don't be afraid to do that. It will save you your reputation. Reputation is essential in business. You will become a serious and world recognize business model which can extend its reach to company, governement entities around the world. The future of social networking is not facebook , twitter, or youtube because the USA federal government is putting too much its noise there and people don't like that. People more and more want to have their own control social network. I think you guys are doing a great job. But again you will need to become from management standpoint serious about your job by respecting what you said you will do. Respond to people request when they need your help with their paying boonex package.

C. Also, you will need to police your market place: I bought applications from a coder called ( listed under Rayz) Alexander the guy who do phone, videophone, flicker etc.. I requested a help from him it was a disaster. He tried to denied everything. It was about none of the licences module are working. I think that is related also to the boonex licence server as well. I checked the new market place the licence I have from all are gone

I wish you guys can become one of the most powerful social media application builder with a good reputation. But the ball is in your hands and I think you can make this a great aventure for your team and their family.

I will be sending this to Mike and Liubov Li email. May be we can do some business together here in USA.

The Better Business Bureau has been found to be an unreliable organization, which gives higher ratings to membership companies, while finding ways to lower the ratings of companies which refuse to purchase membership.

If this company was to become BBB accredited tomorrow, my opinion of them wouldn't change in the slightest.
