Using Dolphin Blocks as Modules in Other Pages

Say, for example, I wanted to have a hand-coded home page where people will arrive, see my layout as I desire, and a login that will log me into Dolphin as a new customer or member.

In addition, down at the bottom of the page, I may have a list of latest whatevers, maybe avatars for example.

This page will be in the root directory, as will the dolphin install. It's just that this will be the landing page, while the dolphin community is but a part of the overall website.

OR, I may want to package a widget for my members/affiliates to put in their blogs, to show some of the most recent forum topics at my site, and draw in new customers.

I know this is possible. I am interested in the following points:

  • Has anyone done something similar?
  • Is it relatively easy?
  • What are the pros/cons of something like this?
  • Any other thoughts?

Thank you!

AntonLV at expertzzz could probably build a mod like this but he is busy at mo working on other projects (Doplhin 7) Have you seen his mod  called golbal composer http://www.expertzzz.com/Downloadz/view/5434 your community members would also be able to add their own widgets etc

Set your hand-coded page as default index page in .htaccess.

i.e.
DirectoryIndex handcoded.html
Then refer to the dolphin install as "index.php".

Use the RSS feed in the blog widgets  .....

Thanks, YouDidntDidYou. I looked at that mod, and it looks like fun. More than I want to dive into 6.1.6 for, at this point, though.

Good points, RumpyBumpy. That would definitely work for some of the options I'm having. Others, probably not, but it's a fast way to get a few things done. *smiles* Thank you.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
