Users in Chat - Not Listed as Online

Hello,

I've noticed that when users are in chat for awhile, they disappear from from the members online list and the presence. For example I checked who was online and saw nobody listed. I looked at the chatroom and there were fifteen members online and actively chatting.

I'm thinking this has something to do with the user moving from the main Dolphin area to Ray when they enter chat? Ray and Orca are integrated with my Dolphin install though. Is there something that I can do to make sure that members who are in chat continue to show as online in the members online and in the presence area?

Thanks!

Couple things you can try first have the chat open in new window by editing the chat block in your admin panel.  This keeps them on the homepage while they are in chat.  I think there is a time out in admin that considers a user offline with inactivity, that may need to be bumped up.  I think what Mydatery meant about free versus ad-free is dependent upon whether or not you are using free RMS, RMS hosted on another server or RMS hosted on your server.  That would determine where they are not free or ad-free

My whole site is add free and still have the same issue....in addition to that, in chat room, all female members are listed as male???

Does anyone know how to fix male/female in the chat?

Just curious - does anyone know why this is?  Why doesn't the system just detect who has logged in?  This seems like a strange design choice.

Hi Nurke,

Did you find a solution for the male/female issue. I also have female shows as male in the chat.

Thanks in advance for your reply

Rob, the server would have to keep updating with the individual end users browser to show if they are online or not.  By increasing the time from 2 minutes to 60 minutes in the admin panel, it will show users online for 60 minutes after the last page they flipped.  Otherwise, we would need to force every user to log out when they leave the site to show accurately who is online or not online.

Methinks this is going to call for coding that is beyond my ability to make this do what you guys would like, but it's possible, just have to find the right way to do it.  Is this an AJAX possible item?

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
