Did every profile have the same characters for the name or did it vary?

If you remove NickName field from join form, it will be generated automatically with random string.

You can put NickName back to join page, or make Full name displayed everywhere instead of NickName:

Admin Panel > Settings > Advanced Settings > Profiles > Member Display-Name

Hi Alex,

I found the invite link at the bottom of the page.

If you remove NickName field from join form, it will be generated automatically with random string.

I take it that this is due to NickName being needed by Dolphin in some areas.  Why generate a random string instead of just having Dolphin use the ID or is this needed for backwards compatibility?

Wait AlexT, I asked if the same string was being displayed and the answer was yes, so Dolphin must not be generating a random string for NickName if NickName is removed from the join form.

Plus, I never knew this and as a developer, this is one of the things that we should know.  I can not but guess at how many hours the OP wasted trying to fix a bug that was actually not a bug.

NickName should be removed from join page if FullName (or FirstName) is used for displaying user. NickName is used in many places in the code so it can't be removed completely.
