User Name

Hello,

Does anyone know of a mod or fix to allow users to be able to have a space in they user name? For example " Kid Ink "  rather than " Kid_Ink" ??

DO NOT USE THE LINKED THREAD.

@mscott: That method breaks the JavaScript and renders parts of the site unusable.

I played around with the space in user names and it does break parts of the site; so for now leave the User Name as is.

Ok so are you guys saying to leave it with the underscore in the username?

For now.  I have been toying with an idea but have not had the time to try and implement it.  If you want to see what happens when there is a space in a user name, create a dummy test account.  Then go into the database and edit the user name to include a space.  You will find some areas of the site will not work properly.  There is a forum topic on here where we played with this and I reported one of the areas that broke with a space in the user name.

From what I understand, there's no implementation that works flawlessly. Besides, it's not common to see spaces in usernames, except in cases where you inspect the element and enter something in a disabled field (*Cough*).

My site has language other than English and Script was able to modify it so I can have username with spaces and weird characters such as '`~4 á ă ơ â etc...

At first it broke the video embed and a few tools but he was able to fix everything. what a great guy.
