Hello -
If we upgrade from 7.0.9 to 7.1.4, will the existing theme and plugins work?
Is there a cost?
Thanks,
Joy Regan, WomenWalking

yes they will work, it at no cost to upgrade if you bought the modules will have to see: if http://www.boonex.com/market has been updates to version 7.1.4 dolphin |
First of all, we need to be sure we are clear on the question. If you are asking if your existing themes you are using with 7.0.9 will work, the answer is NO. The theme engine was changed in 7.1.x so you will need 7.1.x equivalent themes. In fact, it is very important before you perform the upgrade that you switch your theme to the UNI theme that comes with 7.0.9. Your 7.0.9 plugins will need to be changed to 7.1.x plugins; by plugins I am assuming you mean modules. You will have to uninstall a couple of the Dolphin modules before upgrading, the wall module and the spy module I think. Check the upgrade instructions very carefully. Existing 7.0.9 themes/templates will not work on 7.1 https://www.deanbassett.com |
You must follow the upgrade as shown.
The Help section is a little unclear on the betas. If I understand correctly, they have a 7.0.9 to 7.1.0 so the betas are not part of your upgrade. You need to follow the instructions exactly. If you are uncertain of this, there are upgrade services in the market. They will need to know if core files have been changed, they will need to examine your current module list to understand what has been applied to your current 7.0.9 installation. RE: Hello - If we upgrade from 7.0.9 to 7.1.4, will the existing theme and plugins work? Is there a cost? Thanks, Joy Regan, WomenWalking It would be wise for you to make a complete copy of your site in a sub directory on your server, and to clone your database. Then, you'll have something to test upgrades on without risking injury to your live site. The upgrade from 7.0.9 to 7.1.0 is the tricky one. If you get through that one unscathed, the rest is easy. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
