Unlocked Extended Profiles

is there a way, or is there a mod that allows standard members to view a limited profile of someone, but if they are upgraded member they can unlock/view other peoples extended profiles. I looked in membership levels and there appears to be an option to enable viewing the entire profile but not an extended bit. Perhaps Modzz can make a mod if there isn't one available (I've searched the market but can't find anything)

Surely that would mean that members would have to fill out even more fields and then be very careful what they said where. May I suggest you either let people see profiles on not at all. Surely being able to see their profile pic would be enough to make people join?

Elgg actually has this feature and I hated it. It allowed admin to decide what profile fields the public could see. It also allowed fields to be friends only. I made them all "Members Only", as I have done for Dolphin by blocking the public everywhere.

I hope you have also noticed how horrible the search engine is here. You would have to do a lot of searching to find something.

If you don't know what I mean- searching 'profile' gives 11 pages of items, searching 'profiles' gives 3 pages. Try it sometime with 'clock' and 'clocks'. Makes zero sense in today's world.

Could find lots of stuff on profiles and anything with profile written in it, but nothing what I want. Maybe i'll just leave the profiles alone and make them viewable to members only.

Very simple.

in page builder you can set permissions to view individual page blocks.

Just create the membership levels you need, then set view permissions for each profile block as needed.

unless you are wanting something like a short description block for one membership and a full description block for another... then you have to create additional blocks.

Otherwise, you can set things like view profile photo or contact member etc for paying members simply via block permissions.

Sounds great when you say it, but wouldn't a member have to reenter their description and possibly other items and if they ungraded?

@sohopa if you have problems with the search facility, you can always use Google. It certainly finds older posts. Please keep in mind that the word Dolphin doesn't help much on Google. Always start or end your search phrase with Boonex.

 No, as the info would have to be entered by everybody when creating / updating profiles etc.

The view permissions on the blocks would be what makes the info accesible to membership levels.

If you downgrade membership, then you would no longer be able to view the 'premium view' blocks.
