I'm interested but not sure how this works. Can someone refer my website on facebook for example or on any other website?

Or do people have to send an invitation to a persons email address?

RESPONSE : Yes, each member gets a unique referral URL that they can use anywhere (in forums, other websites etc.)

 Is this bug also in the 7.0.9 version?

I have another big problem with 7.0.9 version which i need a fast hotfix. People found out they can register new members with their referral link by using non existing email adresses. They still get the points even the account never got confirmed by the email link send by dolphin. They should get their points only when the new account reaches active status, either automatically or in moderation mode!

I have three suggestions to workaround this.

a) Currently i query the mx records of the domain the email address is associated with. Then i send the usual HELO sequence to the mail server and check if it returns a 250 OK. If its not valid i skip the code adding points in function processReferral($iMemID) {}

This works but its not very good because 1) The mail-domain might count you as a spammer connecting lots times and not sending an email, so you could get blacklisted and 2) it can take up to 5 seconds the email-server handshake finishes

b) Another solution would be to subtract the points again when the system or the admin deletes unconfirmed profiles, but the problem is the inviter already can spend the points until this happens

c) Correct solution is to only add the points after the user really confirmed its email address and got activated by the system (autojoin or moderated)

I really need a correct fix fast because i wanna get rid of my solution a)

I was just wondering if you ever got my last few messages I sent you. You asked me for FTP access to my site so you could fix this mod for me. I sent you the information you requested. I can't use the membership rewards feature of this mod yet, as you said you had to make it compatible with non default membership level systems. The membership reward feature is the main reason I bought this mod. I'm kinda concerned I haven't heard back from you since sending the information you requested. I don't want to leave this mod installed for all my members to see until It's working properly. But if you need me to leave it installed so you can fix it let me know.

Yes, I received your info yesterday. You have a third party membership system in place and the mod must be adjusted accordingly. Un-install the mod until you have received an update. I have to assess your existing membership mod and look into the possibility of making them compatible. This will be done within the next 1-2 days.

 That's a Points mod issue. It will be addressed in the 2.1.6 version (which is still being worked on)

I am having an issue with the way the users message is showing up in the email.

The email below is one I sent out through the module.  In the area where a member can type in a message it is showing up like this:

Jon,\r\nThis is a great site for advisors. I think you would get a lot out of it.\r\nYou should check it out.\r\nIf you like join and lets connect.\r\nThanks\r\nRance

Any returns are showing as \r\n  

Any input on how to address would be appriciated

An issue with the invitation emails has been resolved.

My site is invitation only. The referral link does not allow a person to join/register. 

Can you tell me how I can change the referral link in the referral block that is in member's account to show the invitation link instead?

Look in the serviceAccountLink function found in modules/modzzz/referral/BxReferralModule.php

Invite a friend sends email with link mysite.com/?idFriend=1 

My Referral Block show mysite.com/UserName?idRef=1 

I just need it to show in the block: http://mysite.com/?idFriend=1  

So that it would allow referred people to be able to join an invitation only site. 

@guynuked - Some reworking of the module will be needed to accomplish this. It is not a simple link change. I have scheduled the update for next week.

Updated to work seamlessly on Invite Only sites.

As always, an amazing mod by modzzz - your work is nothing short of amazing.

1. It seems members are able to send referrals to the email addresses of members that are already registered.  I just tested it and used an email address that I confirmed already exists in the database.

2. On this page: m/referral/home/  there are 3 links,

"New" (m/referral/home/?action=new)

"Pending" (m/referral/home/?action=pending)

"My"  (m/referral/home/?action=my)

I can see what "Pending" is when I click on it but there's nothing under "new" and "my" (yet).  What are they for?

2) action=new shows those referrals made by the member who have joined since the member last logged in.
    action=my shows all referrals made by the member.

Update made to Auto Membership functionality so that "gain" and "extension" mode are configured on a per membership level basis. This will reset any existing Auto Membership setup.

Question. I made up a block to tell members how they can refer others. 1. is to Send email, 2. is to post a banner.

My question is.

for number 3 I wanted to see if in that html or php block I made up if I can post the members URL link? That shows that members refer URL?

like what ever member is viewing the homepage there referral URL show in the html or php block that I am making up?

In the PHP block (NOT HTML block), you can output the link with the code snippet below :

Fatal error: Call to undefined method BxReferralModule::getReferralLink() in /home/justsex/public_html/inc/classes/BxDolPageView.php(714) : eval()'d code on line 2

An update has been made to solve an issue for sites that also has the SMTP Mailer module installed. Re-upload the following file :

modules/modzzz/referral/classes/BxReferralDb.php

The price of this module has been reduced.

Excited to be using this mod, but I'm having some trouble.  When I share my invite link and someone signs up using it, in their profiles when they get into the site it says they referred themselves.  And as I'm just now starting to use the mod, the two new people who tried to use the invite link are listed as top referrers on the homepage in the referral bock. 

So I used my profile's invite code, and it's as if they referred themselves.  Has this happened before? Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

also when tried to add banner without specifying width or height, it shown alert but alert language is not complied and shows code

@iff2in - You are getting an error because you have missed a patch. Check to ensure that you have patch 2.1.1 installed.

Regarding the language key issue, re-upload the files and recompile the language for the module.

is it possible to have a unique one use referral link? My Site is invite only, if a users referal link is 'leaked' it will open the door anyone who has it. 

Not possible with Referrals module. I am hoping to complete development of the Invitation module later this month which will do what you need.

In a scenario where the "Auto-upgrade membership" option is activated in the system for both the referrals mod and the points mod and a member, in a particular action (e.g. referring a friend and earning points for the referral), meets the Auto-upgrade membership requirement in both referrals and points mods at the very same time, what will happen in the system? Will the member be auto-upgraded based on the referrals or the points? or both, meaning even being auto-upgraded based on the referrals, points for auto-upgrading will still be taken from him/her?

Please explain.

@DigitZup - That situation is extremely unlikely to happen. However, in the unlikely case that it does then either referrals and points will be deducted (but not both).
