USERNAME

Hi

I just installed the new version of Dolphin 7.1 , but because show this bug? (see my attach)

tells me to insert Email or Username in the field Last name.

I also want delete the UserName option. I would like, in my site, that users use only Firstname and Lastname.
Dolphin7.1 forces users to enter a Username... why?

I don't know why you have prefilled data in those two fields; someone else needs to examine that.  It appears to be a prompt for what to enter but the password field of course is set to hide the input.

However, 7.1 does allow First Name and/or Last Name to be used in place of the user name.  You need to go into the admin (backend) and edit the join form.  You can simply remove the user name from the form; drag it down to the inactive block under the form.

Just noticed the login form over at the right is prefilled as well.

The username is key part of the system as it's used as permalinks to the user "site.com/username", among other things.  You could probably rewrite your system to create username based on First.Last or something but I don't think completely removing them is a good option.

I am not sure; I do know that 7.1 will allow the use of First Name and/or Last Name instead of User Name but I don't know if you still have to have user name as part of the system.  Most of the internal stuff works off of user ID.  For this part of the equation, you may need to search the forums on this new feature of 7.1.

The more pressing issue is the prefilled data on the forms.
