UK hosting for Dolphin

Just a quick question, does anyone host their D sites with a UK based company?

Im in UK, currently using a USA based host

Some new projects in dev that will need a UK host due to data protection laws

In general I find UK hosting can be very expensive compared to elsewhere and have so far not really seen any benefits for me to use UK hosts.

May have to for legal purposes though.

Any feedback on a UK based host thats good for Dolphin appreciated :-)

I had someone in the UK contact me about a Dolphin site with the need to host in the UK; they renewed a server that only had 1 Gig of Ram; would not listen to me, and was rather difficult to work with in general so I ended the relationship quickly.  Before I ended the work relationship, I was simply using the search engines to find a hosting company with servers located in the UK.  One question I have is does the server itself have to be located in the UK, or can the company simply be based in the UK?  One solution is to have your server in-house and pay for a connection to the backbone.  I actually looked into that myself but my location meant the datacentre route was the cheapest.

I don't know the exact laws but it could be that if you are renting a dedicated server and you are the one maintaining the server that as long as you do what is required under the law, it may not matter where the server is located.  Why not post the laws in question.

There's lots of them.

Just all seem to be much more expensive than elsewhere!

Like most things here...

Pick the cheapest.  I don't understand the nature of the post.  If you are forced to use UK host with servers located in the US, and you want to host under the UK laws, then pick the cheapest and publish.
