Total noob !

Hi everyone

Stand by for some really thick noob questions!

I basically wanted a website that was a Content site AND a forum. I tried Joomla, but there seems to be few bridges to integrate a forum with a content site. the 2 that I tried wouldnt install correctly on my hosting service. On another forum they suggested I try Dolphin.

Well, after upoading the files about 10 or more times, I cant get to the install folder or files on the web. Ages ago I had downloaded a small piece of software (called JSAS ) to test Joomla on. So just for the heck of it I tested the dolphin install on that - and it nearly worked!!

Now, I thought I had a hosting problem, so I sent the Doplhin requirements to my hosting provider. They replied with " It might wrk, isntall and see" ! ????   I even tried it on the Linux and Windows sevice.

So yesterday I found a tutorial on building your own server - probably a good idea for testing anyway. I know very little Linux, and a little bit of Windows server (I build BlackBerry servers for my job), and I set about building my own Server.

WOW!!! Have I learned a lot in the past 2 days ( still building it). I mean, I had to look up every acronym on the Dolphin requirements, find out what it is/does, and then install it. I am still in the process (I think I have installed SendMail for Windows - I dont even know how to test it!  Lol !)

So stand by for some really thick questions !!, the first of which I am posting in the forum now....

Anyway, there seems to be a good support group here... I might get to know a lot of you if I succeed with Dolphin (or else I might try Joomla again)

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
