You are joking right? Laughing 80% of the issues are due to modification, custom templ..etc....

seriously? wow, i never thought that would be the case, but i guess it makes sense. so what you are saying is as a product out of the box, there are very few glitches?

I am in the forums usually several times a day. Sometimes i miss a day. Mostly on the weekends.

If i have an answer i normally respond. If i don't have an answer i don't.

Thats been my experience. On a properly configured server and assuming all files uploaded to the server uploaded without any data corruption, dolphin has very few problems.

I do also agree that many of the problems are the result of customizations.

There never will be a product that's bugs free out of the box.
The more modules you install, more modifications you do the more errors you can expect. 3rd party mods.. different coders not all use the same coding standards, so its normal that some will cause trouble.

Less is better.

Yep, makes perfect sense. But I think if Boonex sets some sort of serious guidelines for developers then you will reduce the fly by night coders for sure.

It's been my experience that when most people first get involved with Dolphin then install it and then try to install every singe modification they can find. Sometimes even ones that are floating around on these download sites and were written for 6.0.X.

Then they are confused when they post bugs here that no one else seems to have.

I can safely say that when people sign up for a social networking site they don't want to be bombarded with 200 menus, emails, notifications, pop-ups, membership options and gadgets that they don't even understand.

Yes, templates are the other headache, Dolphin isn't easy to code templates for and a lot of these that are floating around are from WAY back and people have just tried to play around with them to make them work with the latest version.

If you start off with movies, music, and photos you will avoid all these strange bugs and quirks people keep running into. Then move up to the forum and blogs. Then slow down, do your users really want a mod where they  get points for which pet picture is the cutest?
