Title missing from forum posts

when i go to domain.com/forum/ , the title is Recent Topics :: Forum,,,, just like Boonex's demo site.

 When I go to a post, the title does not change, it still shows Recent Topics :: Forum, although at the demo site, the title changes to the name of the post. What is causing this? If I click on the permalink of the post, then the title changes.

Digging a little deeper, if you go to the forum post at boonex:

http://demo.boonex.com/forum/#topic/10-Ways-to-Go-Green-and-Save-Green.htm

You will see on the title bar of your browser, the name of the post. But if you look at the title tags in the source, it's

Recent Topics :: Forum

So how does the post title show on the title bar, if that is not what's in the title tags?

If  you go to my forum and mouse over a post, it shows as /forum/topic/name-of-post.htm. If you click the link it actually injects the # into the url, taking you to /forum/#topic/name-of-post.htm. If you remove the # from the url, the post name is in the title.

I guess the best way to solve this, is to remove the # from the blog post URLs. How can this be done?

I've also noticed that the following line is displayed twice in the header of the forums:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

 I don't understand how it's being injected twice, as it only happen in the forum, and not the rest of the site.

It's broke. I've been complaining about the same thing and no one thinks it exists. If you permalink the post, the URL will work...

It is obvious the problem exists SkyForum because you say it does and you have shown it exists.  The problem is that it does not exist for everyone.  I just checked and my forum is working as it should and I don't see the # showing up in the URL

So what we need to do is try and figure out why it is broken for some and not others.  I had a problem with the forum layout; I downloaded the current SVN and replaced all the forum module files and it fixed my layout problem.  Have you done that?  rename your current forum module to forum.orig and replace the module and see if that changes anything (of course you don't uninstall the module; just replace the files).

If that does not fix anything, then we need to see what else.  I am running on Nginx with PHP-FPM and currently not using any php accelerators.

This has been an ongoing problem through many versions. Each time I bring it up, I eventually get tired of talking about it or I get PO'd and post my dissatisfaction. To date, no one from Boonex has attempted to fix the problem or even acknowledge it exists.

I would like my members to share their topics on the web. I would like them to be able to share a specific post within a topic (currently not possible). I would like to change the name in the share from whateverthetitleofthepostis :: Forum to whateverthetitleofthepostis :: TowTalk Forum but can't even get that done. All the fixes posted here do not change anything.

The share code that comes with the default Boonex install is EXACTLY the same as the code we are all trying to use. They created a recommend block, inserted the generic code from the different social engines and voila. They never even tested it or they would know that you can't even share a specific post, it grabs one at random and if it isn't the one you want, well, sucks to be you....

Put it in the modzzzz classified or the store mod and the share codes will grab EVERY IMAGE FROM EVERY AD on the page. Just stupid and worthless.

If you want to see my previous posts, most of them have "fish forum' somewhere in the post as that's what I call this monstrosity.

Esase created a phpbb mod sometime back but it had issues. Instead of fixing it, she opted to drop the project. No one else has stepped up at all and I certainly don't have the skills to get it done. I would certainly adopt ANY OTHER forum script (as they are ALL better than the fish forum if someone would create one. The Fish forum is such an integral part of Dolphin that changing it and adopting another is almost impossible.

That mod would be worth $300 in my opinion and I would be the first to pay it. This is the WEAKEST part of Dolphin.

And they know it so it sits on the back burner waiting to be fixed or upgraded.

I have replaced all files, folders and removed all associated mods in the past trying to get it working but it just doesn't. Even when you do get it working, it's sadly lacking in design and functionality. I have been waiting nearly 4 years for a useable product from Boonex and each new version is presented with "less bugs, more function, nearly perfect" but in the end has more problems than the version it replaces.

A good example of not accepting there's an issue is my posts on the TOS {evalResult} that many others have also experienced. Since it is not a problem everyone has, it gets relegated to the 'you must have f__cked something up somewhere" pile and continually gets ignored except for a few brave community members who try to help...

Not sure if this helps at all but maybe it will get things started..

modules/boonex/forum/integrations/base/langs/en.php

change two references of   :: Forum  to whatever you want.

In regards to # in forum url  (for testing purposes only)  rename

modules/boonex/forum/js/en/BxHistory.js    to 1BxHistory.js   and test and then change back.

I think it has to do with this but I have not had any time to look at this yet, but will try to in the next few days unless someone else can jump in and help.

I changed them. It changes nothing. I have changed the language files from within admin as well. Changes last until you recompile....

 $GLOBALS['L'] = array (
    'Forums Index' => 'Forums Index',
    'Forums' => 'Forums',
    'Forum' => 'TowTalk Forum',
    'Topics' => 'Topics',
    'Topic' => 'Topic',
    'Orca Forum' => ' = TowTalk Forums',
    'Logged in as' => 'Logged in as',

As far as the modules/boonex/forum/js/en/BxHistory.js  suggestion, that's the first time I've seen that one. Will give it a shot

Got rid of hash tag, now content appears in share window. Permalink is gone.. popup from addthis now fails to open... May be onto something here!

I can right click the page, select addthis/facebook and it works fine....

Found this on line 179

'add this to title' => ' :: Forum ',

Might be what I'm looking for...

Yes, there should be 2 references to :: Forum  in the lang file.  Might have to compile lang in manage forum as well.

Ok, it was the second one.

Eye On The Highway Safety Cams = TowTalk Forums

Success! but now we're back to square one. Could not compile with the BxHistory.js file renamed... Once corrected, share started failing again. Of course, clicking the permalink url corrects the issue.

This is like the apostrophe in the title bug of the forum that I am seeing on my site.  Every time a member adds a title with an apostrophe, I have to edit it and remove it or the editor hangs on replies.  Beats me as to why it is happening.

I guess with the forum, it does these strange things based on who knows what.  Hopefully more knowledgeable people will chime in to fix this.  Just don't let it get buried.
