I have noticed that when a user/friend makes post on other peoples timelines it shows on your account page in 'friends timeline' EXCEPT the update does not tell you which of your friend's the post was made too ?

this kind of defeats the object of being able to comment on such posts from your account page 'friends timeline' if you are not able to see which friend the message is directed at ...

The timeline does not tell you !!  Unless your going to search through all your friends profiles there is no way of telling ...

If your friends with someone, e.g. "annatoure" she says hi..

I thought that it shows up on "their/your" outline only.

From your example, that is your timeline..

I need to test more, but I don't get it..

it shows that that user said Hi to one of my friends .... But I don't know who unless I'm going to search all friends timeline!

Surely this is wrong! Whats the point of me and members only seeing what people are posting to friends timelines if I/we don't know which one?

I also think there should be site notifications for when a user makes a post on your timeline!

You don't know anything else unless you happen to be looking at it ...

If I say hi to one friend, I don't think all my friends should see this.

I go to that friends profile and look at timeline and see where I said hi, they see it.

OK I will try best ..... ;) My issue is as follows with timeline on the Account page

1) Member A (not my friend) makes post on Member B's (a friend) timeline

2) I visit my account page and notice that Member A made a post to one of my friends as it's visible on timeline BUT the timeline does not indicate that the post was to Member B's timeline ...

The account page timeline simply shows what was said by Member A

I think Newton is also trying to show that members you are not friends with should not be able to make posts on your timeline ....

 Sounds like all the privacy controls are set to 'Public'.   Unless you have > Admin> Settings > Advanced Settings > Privacy Groups > Enable Default Values checked, members will have no way of controlling privacy of their content, other than clicking on those stupid key icons everywhere.... and who in hell wants to do that.  Then, it looks like all the privacy controls default to 'Public', which is the worst possible choice for a default value.  For new profiles, there should be a better, and more sensible set of default values applied to all the privacy settings.  Three years have gone by, and Boonex still does not have their shit together on this one.

HL is correct on the privacy thing.  I am going to have to change the default settings because members don't bother.  Then photos that should be friends only get posted to the public display on the home page, not a good thing.

also there is a bug on the timeline home page block.. sometime all the timeline history is blank... i dont know why.. maybe is when someone post a lot of thing and set it to private.. so you cant see in into the index page.. but dolphin dont skip it and just show the public one... its like it completly hide it.. without showing at least the public...

weird... hope it will be fixed VERY soon... this is anoying.. the index page is often empty in that block :(

yep i already see it in the trac for 7.1.1 but its not talking about the index block page bug... hope they will add this bug too into the trac and hope they will release the fix soon...

I am getting a lot of complaints on the timeline.  It definitely needs attention.  This timeline was an overhaul of the old wall module and it does have issues.

I emailed AlexT directly about this topic. Maybe soon we will have some sort of response.

but its not only about that.. its not about typo in email.. but the thing that make timeline disapear if someone publish a lot of private stuff... looks like timeline dont simply skip the private things.. its show blank stuff.. so all the block is blank and you have to wait that another member post public stuff to see again things in the timeline block on the index page

I think JUN10R feels the fee is bad considering the issues that remain ...

I understand that as a 'boonex community' we all try and help each other and bugs are fixed/resolved as they are discovered but I can also see other peoples frustration too

I was going to update from 7.1 beta to 7.1.1 after seeing it has this fix BUT I am toooooo worried about messing up stuff currently at my network!

Now I can just add the fixes individually ....
