Guys .... I'm about to lose my frikin mind here. This Ray thing is killing me... I had my site for over a year, and every now and then I would run across a few issues wit chat, vid and shoutbox. then about a week ago they completely stop working So I decided to update to update to 6.1.5 and boom... nothing still not working, So I went for 6.1.6 same issue ~ray not loading or connecting~ so I came to boonex to chek for some fix-its (change ports in base, uninstall ray, re install ray...yadda yadda) I even went as far as to remove the license for ray and request new ones p/r one brilliant post... Bad fn move as I cant seem to generate new ones now. so i dug deeper and found a DIY RMS server after three days of trying, my blood pressure is way up and my wife thinks I dont love her anymore because I have been sleeping at my desk. Honestly I dont have a clue what hell I'm doing. The ray RMS instructions are crap... Honestly I think its me, I'm as dumb as a they come. I did everything but when i try to execute the ./red5.sh I get /home/octoma/ray$ ./red5.sh Unable to locate Java. Please set JAVA_HOME environment variable. Where is the JRE. I need help Please |
I suggest to you to take a break, give your wife more time its worth it,
( as you said in your post she starting to belive you dont love her anymore ... )
just have patiance until someone can apply,
I wish i could help you but unfortunelty i do not work with Linux

Tanks for the support guys. I'm still at it... How an I supposd to find the JRE?? is it in the 3.5 download or is this somthing I need to download?? |
hey there, your frustration is felt across the community. you have to provide the path to JRE or your JAVA install, which could very well be on the server already, you can give the command which java, and if java is installed, then it will return a path to you. if java is not installed, then you need to install JRE 1.6.2 or whatever the recommended version is now, also make sure that you are installing the recommended version that is related to your RMS, since there are three known RMS's 3.0, 3.5.1, and the latest 3.5.2. you are welcome to contact me should you need more assistance.

Ok... I called hostgator, and they told me that I'm on a shared server so this is not going to work... I am lost.. my members have no chat shoutbox etc. I'm using the ray free (not ad free) but it wont connect to the rms server. my site is Peachmate.com. What can I do???? sooo frustrated!! |
Hi,
Just calm down and relax. I am going to help you.
First, in order to run your own RMS, you need a Dedicated or VPS. Unfortunately, you can't run RMS in a shared hosting environment.
So at this decision intersection, you will either have to start renting your own Dedicated or VPS, or use a third party RMS service. Dedicated and VPS can be expensive to rent every month, while a 3rd party RMS is affordable. The stipulations on advertising in the forums are strict, but I feel this is justifiable. I rent out RMS Connections and repair your Ray for you when you rent from me for free. I have a free trial at Ray you can sign up for http://www.expertzzz.com/Downloadz/view/5397 Sign up, provide me with the requested information, and I will have you up and running with in 2 days. I work in the afternoons so just spend the rest of the day doing something with your wife and later tonight, if you sign up, I will get in contact with you.
Thanks!
Jimmy

If you've been on a shared server the entire time, how did anything ever work? I'm confused. Were you using rms.boonex.com? My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
houstonlively: I honestly dont know... It was working great (free version in the boonex rms) until maybe 2wks ago, then Boom the never ending connecting thing. jctwebsites: sounds cool, kinda on a budget though, but maybe I'll give it a try. sorry about the posting of my url, I wanted to show what the site was doing, in hopes that someone could help. |
$5.49 / Month for a reliable RMS Connection for your site, but I understand being on a budget.
What I will do is make sure Ray will work using my RMS, then connect you back to Boonex's RMS. I will do this for free and if you ever decide you want a better RMS, hopefully I can win over your business. PM me your info.
Thanks!
Jimmy

Wow.. I'm impressed. Thats mighty admirable of youjctwebsites |
Believe it or not, Ray isn't too difficult to work with. I can usually figure out the problem with in 10 minutes if it isn't anything too serious. If your database is corrupt, then that might throw a wrench in to the gears, but most of the time it is just a file problem. Half of it is having a reliable RMS connection to check it against. :-) |
jctwebsites ~aka~ Jimmy. You f-n ROCK!!!!! listen up all for RMS issues Jimmy is the go to guy. Got me up and running in 10/min. seriously man you Rock Loudly!!! |
