There should be a list of "Certified" Dolphin custom work developers

I am seeing long lists of people in need of custom development work at their sites. I am also one of them.

I think it would be extremely useful for us, and profitable for the development companies, if Boonex could have some sort of "Certified or approved Development Agencies for Dolphin" Or why they dont advertise that themselves, they would make lot of money, more than by selling licenses.

Yet, there doesn't seem to be a single one. Nothing. Development companies dont even advertise themselves, which leads me to think that there are truly none.

If you post a job advertisement, you are putting your whole business and project at risk. The answers you get come from anonimous sources who dont even have a webpage of their own, who are untraceable, and who cannot prove a single reliable portfolio.

Yes, I agree with Boonex notice when they say "Be extremely cautious when hiring an expert for your project". This has saved me from making mistakes and that is good, yet, we still need a roster of reliable agencies or developers.

You could also read the reviews on the profile and numerous product pages (if they are also in the market). I'm not against the idea of new badges, though.

How would developers get certified, by taking a Boonex certification exam?  Would Boonex offer a certification class so that developers could work at getting certified?

Geeks, making the world a better place

GG, it could work if we had a real anonymous review and voting system for modules and it's developers.
Anonymous so everybody feels no pressure to speak there minds.

But with an option to leave there name if they want too... that way you'll get a honest voting and based on the voting the developer will get the
certified status

There is a handful of good developers here, but most of them are too busy to accept any projects. Your best bet is to go to one of the freelance websites and hire a coder. Heck, hire a team of coders if your budget allows it. Those sites have a robust rating system and most of them have portfolios you can look at first.

I second that... as I use Freelancers for custom work done on my site, and at times you might find that it's cheaper this way..But I agree also that we should have a system over here on Boonex as well.

If you wish to get your custom work or custom modules produced then there is a good way to encourage devlopers to take the work on...

Make the job as clear and easy to understand as possible... This is the best practice that i have found: -

Create a detailed development document that clearly demonstrates exactly how the finished product must look and function. Include as many details as possible, including buttons, links, text, lang keys, form layouts etc. I usually put everyting in numerical order starting with a flow chart of the basic process of the module (easily done in powerpoint).

I then create a mock up in photoshop that shows how things must look. The images are then included with the explinations. Also include mock ups of the admin section of the module and detailed information on what must be included within the admin section.

The purpose of this is for the developer to have the best possible chance of creating exactly what you want without the guess work. dont worry if the document is many many pages, remember the more information you give a developer the easier the job will be for him and the happier you will be with the finished product.

You must also include a clause stating that by accepting the job, the developer may not use, sell or re-distribute the code in any other product. This is to protect your investment because they have been known to do this. Also state that upon finish of the project all code will be owned by your company.

It is sometimes possible to do deals with some developers if they like the idea enough to develop it for the market. I recently did this and allowed the developer to sell the product in the market, and I purchased the first copy. This brought the development cost down gratly for us.... But a developer wil not do this unless it is a great idea with the potential to pay for the development time.

I have attached a sample document that I did for that project which will show you how to present your projects to developers.

Hope it helps,

Nathan : )
