The image upload mystery deepens... this is weird

Ok, so my images are not uploading into any modules.... but I have noticed something VERY strange....

I have "premium" membership level on my site. Almost ALL users are premium.

I noticed this by logging in (spyadmin) to a recently created account and then created a new account to see if my eyes were decieving me... they were not...

(1) I set up a new account and then upgraded it to "premium" and then created a group called "Dance card" and uploaded an image into the group - The image does NOT show in the group.....

(2) I logged into an old "premium" account (over 6 months old) and created the group "dance card" and uploaded the SAME image - the image DOES show inthe group!

AM I going Mad???? I have one level of "premium" and old accounts allow image uploading and new accounts do not.......

Any ideas or addresses of a good sanitarium will be appreciated....

Nathan : )

Update a set of 'new' and 'old' accounts to be essentially the same, then take a look in the database Profiles table to see what, if anything, the differences are.  Once you rule out the Profiles table then take the IDs for the 'old' and 'new' accounts and check the most obvious photo related tables... after trying to uploaded with both accounts... and where one upload works and the other does not.  (And for the record... this is all pure intuition... no experience).

I will look... but there should be no difference if both accounts are "premium" then they should have the same actions?

Man... this is so confusing... I have spent a fortune, and those that know will tell you, it is an absolute fortune... and I am left with a site that is pretty much unuseable... I feel like just throwing it all in and not wasting any more £ thousands...

Sounds like a very frustrating situation.  I'd be tempted to seek out and hire the smartest (and trustworthy) Dolphin module developer I could find... and beg them to make the site functional.

Any chance this is a privacy issue, i.e. default set to "me only"... and you've added code does not display anything when set to that privacy level?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the "hidden" photo album problem that's been mentioned in other threads.

It could be the issue with the hidden album.

In your scenario, as epaulo mentioned, if you've added any code to not display the "padlocks" and the images are going into this "hidden" album, that could be the issue. I know I've added code to not display those padlocks in certain sections.

Have you checked the album permissions? Perhaps the old accounts were changed to view permissions "Public" and the new accounts are still set as "Me Only"? I have not tested the groups yet myself. Do the images get copied to an album? If so..which album?

My 1st thoughts upon reading this were the actions under the membership levels. I know when I was testing, some new accounts had issues after I created a new membership level. Maybe check the actions for that membership again and hit save. I'm assuming upload photos is enabled?

I am really stuck on this...... other than delete a great site and start again I really dont know what to do...

Probably don't need to go to that extreme....but, I can feel your pain! I'm having an issue with photos myself.

Thanks guys,

I have checked all the permissions and actions... its one heck of a problem. Fortunately I now have one of the smartest dolphin brains looking at it, but any suggestions that could help are very welcome.

The culprit has been identified..... Shock Horror........

I will now decide on a solution and also contact the vendor of the offending module that has caused the problems......

I think more testing is going to be needed tonight but I am confident of a resolution to this now : )

Why not share the "culprit" with us so others know the answer?
