Testing Automatic Emails

I'd like to test some of the automatic emails that are sent out to ensure changes I've made to them (better text, more db driven information, etc) are working correctly.  Other than creating the required 'trigger' situation (e.g. joining an event, joining a group, etc)... is there someway to force a particular email to be sent to a test account?

Not that i am aware of. And even if there was, that would not be a proper test because that would not test the actual code that triggered the send.

I was thinking it could be possible to use the send notification code, for example

function SendEventNotification($iRecipientID, $iEventID, $sMsgType='')

to trigger the message to a test account.  I'll do some more research.
