Table ProfilesMatch

I am prepping up for my upgrade from 6.1.4 to D7.

In an attempt to slim down my database just a tadd, I was wondering how important are the contents of the table ProfilesMatch to the running of the site? Can I empty the table without any real consequence and start afresh? It's just that it seems to have grown to quite a few MBs which I am wondering how necessary the contents actually are.

Your help is appreciated.

Can someone please offer their opinion on how important the contents are of the table ProfilesMatch to the running of the site? Can I empty the table without any real consequence and start afresh? How many of the members in your DB are still active and how many are now inactive for a given period of time.  Say 1 year, 6 months and so on?  Perhaps a better way to cull the size of your DB is to dump the inactive profiles from it that way you don't disturb anything that the current members are using.

When you say inactive do you mean profiles that have not been confirmed or profiles that have not been logged into for quite some time?

If it is the latter then I'd rather hold onto those profiles for a while longer in case they come back. Though I do delete proifles whose email bounces.

What I am really asking is why has the profilesmatch table grown so large and can I empty it without any real damage to my site?
