Subscribe button disabled

Hi:

I am new to Boonex and using version 6.1.  I added the Subscribe index to my Homepage but the subscribe button is disabled. Any help is appreciated.

I searched and found that 'When I type in a valid email address...the button becomes active" but the user does not know that.  There is a text description above it.  How do I edit it?
