hello, can anyone tell me if there is a certain trick i'm missing?
after someone purchases in my store, i have no idea what they bought. it only says in the paypal payment. item description: "payment to admin:, and item "6"
i tried searching for this in the cart history for the admin and for members and it says "empty"
i looked in processed orders, and pending and there is nothing there.
people are able to buy but the information is not being stored anywhere, so i do not know how to locate it.
any help is appreciated.

Try to setup IPN mode.
Sometimes paypal delays payments, and in direct mode such transactions can not be completed. IPN mode should work better, because it will send notifications in the background, even when transaction is delayed for several days, like in a case of eCheck. But you need to make sure that you enter correct IPN notification URL in paypal settings.

Hi guys, I have the same problem. Just curious if you have solved it.
I was trying to look at that fix, that AlexT provided, but I am not sure how and what should I do with it, since I am pretty new in this field. Anyway, the problem is that when I tested my site and made four actual payments, nothing changes. When I log in as a regular member and purchase membership level through PayPal it works fine. I verify the payment and PayPal redirects me to my site. However when I check my membership status which I have purchased, nothing changed, however I get an email from PayPal with verification that payment was received. Anyway after I log in as an administrator and process payment. Users membership level is updated. Is there a way of doing it automatically instead of manually?
Another thing is chart, when I go to my shopping chart I can still see the membership level ready for purchase even after the purchase is completed. Also there is no information of purchase history or payments. And it doesn't display any info about processed or pending payments. And another strange thing is that user has an option for settings same as in admin panel for PayPal and 2Checkout, this is very strange. I do not think there is a need for every user to have this option available unless I am not aware of other reasons.
I am thinking maybe it has something to do with additional modules I have installed, such as Membership vouchers and affiliates.
Please answer me asap, because my website is ready to go and this is just the one but, that stops me.

I have a big issue with payments in my web site.
I have made three actual payments to PayPal to check if everything works fine before my site goes live. Unfortunately it doesn't. I have installed Mambership voucher module. Created a code for 99 percent discount, registered as new member, applied 99 percent discount and clicked to purchase Silver membership level for 30 days.I have loged in to my PayPal account made a payment and I was redirected back to my web site. Everything seems fine so far. My membership status hasn't changed, so checked admin panel and found that there are some pending transactions listed (as you can see in the picture. Is it possible to do that automatically so I wouldn't have to connect to admin panel and check transactions everytime someone makes a payment? It would be more convenient for users and myself?
I have processed the payment in admin panel and it seems fine, user's membership level was changed from Standard to Silver.
However when I log in to my website as a user and click on Payments link (please see pictures attached), it doesn't display any history of payments and any of sub categories (Processed, Pending). And when I click on Settings the same screen comes up as in admin panel for setting up payments with PayPal. I am not if this is how it supposed to be, but looks rather unusual for me.
When I cilck on Chart, it shows the same item (Silver Membership for 30 days with 99 percent discount) which I have just purchased. It doesn't look good, because voucher code might be used only for one membership and some confusion might occur. I believe this item should be removed from shopping chart after sucessful transaction is completed. And again when I click on Chart History, it doesn't show any history info in there.
I am not sure if this is relevan for these errors, but have installed some third party modules, I have purchased from your Market. Membership Vouchers, Affiliate (by AQB) and Membership Badges.
And anther question is it possible to set up a recurring payments for my users, so they wouldn't be bothered with reminders every month?
Another issue is that from admin panel when I go to Orca Forum module, I het this error and it doesn't work:

Have you set "Data return url" in your paypal configuration settings for IPN on www.paypal.com website ?
If yes, then:
Please remove 3rd-patrty mods along with its modifications and test it again.
If the problem goes away - then it is a problem of some of 3rd-party mods, ask mods authors to fix it for you.
If the problem remains - post in the ticket access info to your site (ftp, dolphin admin and phpMyAdmin accesses) and readonly access to your paypal or at least screens of IPN configuration settings in your paypal account in www.paypal.com website.
Regarding forums:

If you purchase membership 1 then after that even if you decide to purchase membership 2 which is more expensive user still keeps membership 1 and it doesn't change to membership 2. Is it possible to change that?

Memberships are queued. If user already has "membership 1" and purchase "membership 2", then it is queued and will start after "membership 1" ends.

We have 7.0.9, we set up paypal and all was well for a few days. Payments were processing and memberships were updating fine. Then the trouble started, random purchases were not posting back to our site, memberships were not upgraded, and no email confirming payment was recieved. These were not on consecutive transactions, seemed to be intermittent. Today, no transactions will go through properly. Paypal shows the ipn is sucessfully sent which means they are recieving a response from our server confirming receipt of that but that's as far as it goes. We do have 3 showing in pending orders, but there is no order id associated with them. We didn't install any new modules or 3rd party software when this started. We did install Chat Summary Yesterday, but that was after this trouble started with paypal.
