Store - Non Members cannot buy

Hi,

I have been through the forum and their have been a number of request for allowing a purchase of a product in the store to non-members.

At least, if being a member is a pre-requisite for buying, why not have signup process during purchase and have them put into a memebership called customers with limited access. They can then upgrade to full members later after that.

It is a pity as there is no way for a first time visitor to know that they have to join first to buy? There is no - add to cart button etc.

How can we work around this?

regards

Glenn

This has been mentioned on the forum before.  It would be a nice modification if the shop module was expanded.  There were some that wanted a full integration of a shop application, such as OS Commerce, into Dolphin.  I will be happy if a solution for non-members being able to complete purchases was introduced in some way.

I'm joining the crowd.  Quite silly not to allow sales to public.

I did a work-around where my members use points to buy instead of money so they have the incentive to join.  But I'm sure I lose sales from the public who can't be bothered to 'waste time' signing up...

Hmm, some kind of silent account creation should be possible. I keep saying I am going to look at stuff like this but I simply don't have time at the moment so I won't say it this time.

from my perspective - this is how it looks to me:

The dolphin store is currently set to only allow the purchase of downloadable items. So,if a user has not created an account, then there is not a real good way to keep track of what they have purchased for downloading at a later time.

Yes, but why ONLY for downloadable products?  Who thought this up?  Shouldn't a product like Boonex allow for users to have more liberty to create as they wish?

Could be that this is a well calculated decision by Boonex to make the store workable for only one type of client, and, thus forcing the majority of clients to go spend money in the marketplace to make the store usable!

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
