Stopping uploaded flv video files from processing

I noticed that although I upload a .flv video file, it still "processes" the file.  Why?

Is there anyway to stop or skip the processing of flv files?

Thanks

Dezzy

if you look at the directory where these are stored, you will see that it breaks the video into parts. so it wont matter what extension you are uploading, its going to convert it.

Yes...but that's my point.  If it's already in the format that I want (.flv)...why is it converting it into other formats?

take a look in the directory where they are stored, you will see there are more than just the flv in there.

DosDawg...I know and realize their are other formats (as I stated previously where I asked "why is it converting it into other formats?").  My question is why the other formats if all I want is flv format?

If I upload flv format...and all I want is that format (no other)...how can I skip the processing of the file into another format?

Anyone has a solution?

I also have this question.   It's very important.

I am hosting on a shared server.  I uploaded an hour long video and the ffmpeg processing action nearly crashed the server.  They suspended my account until I pulled that file off.  And they said I'd likely be booted off if I did it again.  Can't blame them actually.

So I'd prefer to process the video on my machine and then upload it in a format which is ready to use.

But what I'm hearing is that if I upload an FLV file, it will still run some kind of process on the server, even though it will be displaying an FLV in the end.

For the reasons stated above, we REALLY need a solution for this.  I know I could disable ffmpeg, but that doesn't seem like a very good solution, and I'm guessing that would prevent any videos from working.

Suggestions Please

Try going to your "Flash Apps" video settings, look at top selection, deselect the, "Use H264 Codec" and now videos process quickly, 70MB video used to take 30-40 minutes.

Now can process videos so far upwards of 200MB and in only 4 minutes to encode, less than two minutes to do a 70MB video.
