That's a good question.

If I remember correctly, all sounds are public at first.

Most private folders appear because the members  have to set up one by one to public and many don´t do that.Frown

Not sure what kind of site that is but if I was a member and my, let's say a song I wrote and composed, and it was on the site. I would set it to private so only my friends can hear, see it.

How would your members react?

There is a module I have called Sounds Playlist it allows users to "share" their playlist so other can add to their profiles as well, this one cuts down on total music on the site. It's like myspace does.

I would promote that type of module if your looking at making most of your site music public ready..

Our site is actually a space for public school children can learn music through the computer. We have 4 books that comes with free music software, which is installed on the machine from the school, and students create songs and upload them in our Dolphin. There are all students who participate in our project that is still a start. So the sounds MUST be shared and heard by everyone. That's the big thing. But there must be a way to change that ... to be with permissions maybe, or upgrading versoes.I do not know .. we'll try to find a solution. Anyway, I'm showing your product to my superiors. Thanks for sharing

OK, first off it's not actually "my module" ESASE is the developer.

I have it on one site, I do have to warn you, the site must be a fresh install before this module can be installed and used, you loose all your "current" music and some other items due to dependencies on other modules having to be removed first before this module can be installed. It's a real put off!!

you have a PM

I want to know  if we upgrade our Dolphin 7.0.4 to 7.0.9 the sounds folders became public automaticaly.

Quote · 11 Sep 2012

Just about any install, the sounds are there by default unless marked by the uploader.

As in the 7.1 demo, all sounds I have uploaded are there for the public to listen to.

Upgrades are easy and recommended too because of so many security issues, 7.0.9 fixes all that.

As long as you have not modified core files or using modules that are known only to work for your version ONLY, would I upgrade.

If you have 3rd party modules that are not tested on 7.0.4+, upgrades can break a site.
