Something went wrong! error

Hi, first thanks for the regular pros for past efforts and sollutions.

I do have an issue though.

I upgraded from 7.3.5 to 7.4.2 ok now and everything seems fine.

However, I just changed to PHP 7.2 and am getting the:

Something went wrong! Please try reloading the page. Error

This is only on the following pages:

member.php page and individual account pages. ie: domain.com/myusername

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Many thanks. Oh I tried clearing the cache and recompiling languages but nothing works so far. Thanks again

Hello hawk007!

Do you have the possibility to switch to another version of PHP? Like 7.1 or 7.0?

Quote · 14 Feb 2020

I will look into it but it would take me a couple of days as I am using two versions on my server. 5.6 and 7.2 through fpm and I am not sure how to go about changing versions, althougn I believe 7 and 7.1 are installed. Not sure iof I can just activate them though? I will look into it.

Thanks for the response Leonids

Hi, I installed and applied php version 7.0 and still get the same error in the same place, member and profiles.

Any more ideas? Thanks.

Hi hawk007, did Leonid find a solution for this? I'm having the same problem with profiles and accounts on PHP 7.2, but the error doesn't appear on PHP 5.6. I've just completed updating 7.3.5 to 7.4.0 and moved it to another server that only runs PHP 7.2. I planned to do the remaining updates with PHP 7.2.
Thanks,
John

Hi John, sporryt for the delay (boonex doesnt send notifications, not sure if it can)

The issue was due to: Call to undefined function mysql_num_rows() in php 7+

thats why php 5.6 works and php 7 doesnt.

Because the new version of dolphin doesnt require the num_rows It is therefore a Module At Fault, that hasnt been updated.

I found the solution was to update Modzzz mods to the newer versions.

Hope that helps and isnt too late.

Also note John that Modzz has informed me that all modzzz mods need to be patched before the upgrade from 7.3 to 7.4. I have just reverted back to 7.3.5 to upgrade the modzzz, as some modzz, the Awards in particular caused problems after being upgraded whilst using dolphin 7.4.2

This actually goes for all third party modules as far as I can tell. I've just discovered depreciated code in some of the updated (4.2.0) Modzzz modules I use, but I still have to check dozens more. The code is mysql_num_rows as you pointed out to me, but there may also be other instances. I can't get Ultimate Blogs to work either, but I haven't delved into that one yet.

Awards and Ultimate Blog modules mentioned above have been updated. Kindly report any other module that you find an issue with.

Come on.

It is ridiculous that a lot of people paid a lot of money and nearly nothing works.

There is no real support because some want an even more regular income stream; without being honest about their intentions.

But it's not just Boonex, Dolphin, Evo, Dolphin Pro.... or whatever.

People are being shafted.

Can't say more than that.

If you feel you are being shafted..... give no more monies out!

I spent several days and nights  trying to get my site to work. I eventually did after removing half a dozen or more modules which I planned to replace when they were finally upgraded. After what I considered an unpleasant and exhausting time, I finally reopened the site only to find that members can't save their profiles if they make the slightest change.

That problem exists on the 7.2 and 5.6 upgrade. Of the dozen or so modules I have running, most seem to be performing okay from a viewing sense, but I have yet to check if they will accept new data. This also makes it very difficult for me to track down the problem edit problem because all those modules have been used by my members and I really don't want to uninstall them to locate the culprit, if indeed there is one.

The problem is, where do you start? No errors are being generated because I guess the offending piece of code has no need to generate an error. I have modules from four vendors and I don't know who to ask, just in case the problem is not his.

This leads me to create a clone site and uninstall modules one by one until the problem goes away. Then there may be other problems, who knows.

Sad to hear about your frustrations.

Hope you've sorted it all out.

I have another thread running about a similar problem so I don't wish people to get confused.

I eventually got my problem with 20 modules down to around four after discovering that photos associated with the photos module where just vanishing from my site. All I was getting was a grey "no Image". However, for a brief moment one day they reappeared. That made me wonder if the shared server running PHP 7.2 I was using was having problems. I moved everything back to my old DigitalOcean server which I had updated to PHP 7.2 and everything came back. Also several of the 20 modules began working again.

I'll report the 4 problem modules to the developer(s) once I make sure I've done everything correctly.
