So who's doing upgrades around here?...

I'm looking for someone to upgrade my 7.0.9 to 7.1.

Yes, I already posted in Jobs 3-4 days ago and no one replied, yet.

I guess no one here needs money or they just don't want to deal with the upgrades..

Send me a pm if interested.

Not me. I'm not wasting my time upgrading to something that is going to cause more of a headache. Whats the rush, wait until it's no longer beta.

No rush.

I would just like to keep my site updated and I understand that some of the members have no problems with the beta version..

Well the new beta is actually more stable than the buggy 7.0.9 , trust me.

I have no stability or issues with 7.0.9 and the thought of upgrading to B1 then having to upgrade to B2 is far from appealing.

I would not advise upgrading a production site from 7.0.x to 7.1 yet. I am in the process of it, and even with limited 3rd party modules it is still proving to be pretty unpredictable and difficult.

Expect any bugs that you have with 7.0.x to carry into the 7.1 migration, at least that's what I've seen.

I would have to agree here.

Your going to run into module problems and some other issues that are not going to be fixed until B3..[edit] B4, B5, B6

Now as in another post, "How many Betas will there be?" There could be eight more, or more..

Yes we are getting upgrade patches, but that is not solving all the problems.

I'm able to fix all of them by pulling the SVN files that they have fixed.

During the testing/Beta phase here, taking your site live is a big mistake.

Some modules that have had bugs and fixed required the "broken" module to be removed/re-installed to fix it, and if you back up the data, restoring does not always work.

[going off topic but still to be considered]

I'm very disappointed here about this, how many companies offer a "Beta" version (that is bugged) and expect someone to fork over $800 bucks for a license when we have no idea how long this Beta phase will be.

Most software companies offer their stable version, and an optional Beta version and warn you it is a Beta and can break at anytime..

Further and further we go "back", un professional release, only Beta to test, users asking the same questions that have been answered over and over. The child like look of these stupid forums.

ok, done

I personally don't want to upgrade to 7.1 on all my sites. The ones I have done the SEO has gone to shit!

i agree i am having GREAT luck with the 7.1 b upgrades and even the 3rd party modules but there is no way i would do it on an active  live site that you would be concerned with loosing until it is no longer beta

So basically you guys are saying that its better to upgrade from 7.0.9 directly to Beta #10 and not go through all of the Beta's...

I guess I'll wait with the upgrade but I hope this process wont take too long.

Thanks for the tip!!

I never could get the problem with TinyMCE toolbar in 7.0.9 resolved and put in support tickets on it and everything.  Even saw where someone complained about the problem two years ago and it was never fixed.  They ripped out the way they did the TinyMCE in 7.0.9 and redid it completely.  So far it seems to be working in 7.1.  I had to have the correct TinyMCE toolbar load in because it had custom buttons the users needed access to.  The problem is that all the custom work I did in 7.0.9 had to be redone.  Furthermore, not all the mod authors are working to convert their mods to 7.1 although many will work in 7.1 without a lot of changes.

Geeks, making the world a better place
