Small Changes In Forums

You may have notices that BoonEx Forums layout has been slightly changed recently. We would love to know your opinion on the changes and perhaps some ideas on what small, subtle, smart, little tweaks could be added to BoonEx Forums and, in turn, Dolphin Forums to improve them without endangering the upcoming D7.1 release deadline. Please, share!

I like the new direction, but I miss the left navigation.

The "Account" is hard to understand sometimes.

I don't know I have messages until I click on Account most times. Then the red box with notifications is there.

I too miss the left navigation.

I like the author header colors you've added, makes it a bit easier to traverse through threads without losing track.

Please fix the paragraph spacing on posts - I have to press entire twice to create the look of a new paragraph

Pressing enter once, the spacing is too tight (like this).

Other than that, there's not much to change here @ Boonex. Some things that would be very beneficial to me in 7.1:

Add topic view page to Page Builder. I would like a left column in my forums with the Category index listed, or possibly a skyskraper ad when someone is browsing through topics or reading posts... not just on the index.

Fix the google adsense code incompatibility with the forums. When I add my adsense code to the splash header and force it to display across all pages, it works everywhere but the forums. Forums are the biggest entry point from an SEO perspective, I need to be able to place ads here.

The rest of my suggestions would not allow for a timely delivery of 7.1 final, so I'll refrain from posting them again :)

Better search would be nice.  Is there a way a person can search on a phrase, or group words together as a unit for the search, I have tried double and single quotes and they don't seem to work?

The search feature is way to broad with the results...

I second csampson1 comment on search function. If you're looking for if something has already been answered on Boonex forum (to avoid getting sarchastic remarks) you really want to have a shorter list. I think that honestly people won't spend more than 10minutes looking for an answer before they launch a new question.

I suggest that you have a section which holds the answers to given questions. It is not efficient to look through 5 different topics which are actually the same and starting from 2010 and on 5th reply in the 3rd Topic is the answer you're looking for.

Suggest you have a section called Solutions or How to, where you've stripped down the nonsense and show only:

1. Question
2. Solution

This would save the community frustration and time. Your investment in this would be beneficial for every one.

Closest thing is some highlighted topics and the Wiki, maybe something to develop further?

PS. Logging in with IE8 on Boonex has some issues with blank spaces in the password field causing that you have to start with deleting or backspacing to remove it.
