Sites not displaying categories 7.3.4

Hi... on my site http://valleystn.com I have added several restaurants and one dentist.  I'm trying to make a web-directory of as many businesses in my area as possible.  Unfortunately, the categories isn't working it shows the taglines but not the categories.

Also would be nice if they were sorted alphabetically.

From that link yes it shows...

But from the main top level sites link...

 https://valleystn.com/m/sites/home/

If you look to the right you will see featured in a box... below that the categories show empty and below that the tags show properly.

Silly questions I know, but it may be the answer?

Did you actually save the categories when you changed them? Maybe your work is lost.

Did you accidentally create the categories in the wrong module?.

Have you accidentally disabled them?

I'm finding I have to clear the browser cache more and more.

They are saved and enabled... will display fine on this screen...

But not on the main sites home page in the categories box... definitely smells like a possible bug.

The categories box is 'empty'

Do you have posts in for the Categories?

Yes 6 entries 5 for Restaurants and 1 for Dental... NONE of them are showing up in the categories box on home... the listings show up but no categories.

However the category listing page that's in the pull down the categories will show up.  Look at my two links above it's pretty clear they are all there... show correctly on one page but not the others.

I think sites home page shows common (admin) categories, but it looks like you've created user categories:

https://valleystn.com/m/sites/categories

It may be a lot of user categories and they can't be displayed in one block, so only admin categories are shown there.

User categories are created when you create a post through the front end.  Site categories (which Alex calls common) are created by logging into the backend.  You can choose the module in which to add the categories.

I have removed irrelevant categories and replaced them with site categories relevant to our site.  "Businesses" in our community such as restaurants, dental providers, medical providers, etc etc.

They are showing up in the category  link, but in the main link the category box is empty.  I don't think it's how I created (as I renamed instead of deleted pre-existing categories).

Hopefully we can get this figured out... but I believe there is definitely something there that's  a bug.  Is there anyone from development of Dolphin that can take a look at it?

Renaming existing categories could be the reason why they're not appearing.

Have you considered going to admin/settings/category settings/sites and adding a new category rather than changing an existing one? Hopefully it will appear.

It may be a bug, but I ask why are you the only one reporting it? Bugs usually set alarm bells ringing.

OK... I noticed I had two Restaurant... so it appears one was created as a user and one was created as an admin.. so I chose the other Restaruant category and it's now working.  Sorry I'm recovering from a traumatic brain injury and sometimes the simplest things I don't catch.  Thanks everyone for their patience.
