the site says

This is a very similar problem with any CMS or community software, not necessarily Dolphin especially when you go over your server setting for images.

The above code may indicate that Dolphin needed more memory than your PHP was allowed to give it. Increase PHP's (php.ini if I remember correctly) memory limit but you may need to have server access to do so.

You may also resize your images...

Also contact your server owners to see if they have recently changes the server's resource limits....

Finally dolphin is not a "stupid" software... yes it may have a few hickups but it is a software with great potential... If you think it is stupid, why dont you go and develop your one and see how many times you do not get stuck with bugs and problems... Comments like that do not help

edit: http://www.abdllive.com/orca/ is still functional so ita a memory problem that may be limited by on your server's side not a software problem

i have spent 2 days on this now its stupid in that fact i love this software but these litle things seem to mess things over.

why can't the software corp all images on upload or even stop images at set image as blue host are really good and this

is the first time yes u have contact blue host about the size but i only just hit the problem again. one i really got me

flyin was the any java/ajax pop bu crached all browser if its IE and took 4 eva in FF.

I agree this is good software but even after limited the scrpit to the core it still faced problems with the filewrite rights

took me 20 mins each time to get them wat that about manly setting them surely not needed more?

all in call whne i had it working 8 of 10 but now 2 out of head still alot of work to go me thinks.

i was able to fix that error before adding ini_set("memory_limit","64M"); in the top of the errored file. or commenting tha line out for tests.

Setting a proper server environment is critical to Dolphins stability and performance. Just reloading the software will not fix server environment. Commentting out code is not wise as this software is NOT developed with redundant or useless code strands. Every strand, array, function has proper purpose.

I recommend you find a host who configures for Dolphin HostForTheWeb or many others in here do it specifically because we are tired of individuals racing to launch without proper time and set-up given to the well written installation instructions.

Those of us who have solid server environments have "hickups" (RightonIced) and enjoy our Dolphins for hours a day.

So slow down, breath and realize it took me 3 days to configure my first Dolphin. And it swam beautifully once I configured the environment correctly ;)

well said and great advice, I am still configuring mine as it is not what I truely want it to be... Dolphin to me is a template software and installing it would not necessarily help you achieve what you want.

Take your time and there is always a solution to 99.99% of the problems you encounter.. Good luck nappywet...

i have to concur with these previous posts. i too was frustrated with this script, but the funny thing is i had a dedicated server. i thought i had everything i needed but what i was lacking was

P A T I E N C E.

CRITICAL COMPONENT

now it has been mentioned that you must (MUST) have server environment that is configured to run this script. most of your off the shelf hosting providers are geared towards wordpress, e107, joomla, and that sort. Dolphin is so much more and there are not many who can understand the necessity to have the hosting environment configured to run this application. dolphin is cutting edge technology and with such, you are going to find that if you fail to follow the simple instructions with server requirements, you will be pulling your hair out.

as stated, i too was short on patience when i loaded this script. i program in php, and thought surely i could make this work. well after two weeks i found the blog that used to be the crucial environment where all posts were made to address issues with this script. i flamed the support staff, and then moved on. but i could not just leave it at that, i eventually went back to the wiki for this application, and read every word, verbatim, and said aha, thats my problem. i spent countless hours over on expertzzzz.com reading in the forum, using th search feature of the forum, and eventually i started understanding. along the way i made some excellent acquaintances online. there is truly a large community of help here, but your attitude and overall participation will determine what level of help and how expedient that help will come.

I am no expert on this script, i learn each and every day when it blows up, (of course on my test site) i drink some coffee, and approach each issue as if it were the only issue i ever had. sometimes it takes me days, sometimes weeks, but for the most part, i create all my own problems. there are some hiccups as stated with the script, but if you are diligent and visit your community regularly and have a positive attitude about the whole thing, you will find that your resolutions are at the tips of your fingers (literally)

other sites to visit are:

boonexnerd.com

expertzzz.com

i think boonexnerd has come a long way, and is a good place to be a part of.

my first installed worked like a dream but the server needed to be incresd for images  but soon as u fully started up

all plugins the site before unstable and very slow.

This site was 100% i would of gone with maybe another host but for pricing blues was the manages best option i am just

the web admin.

And ya i think it will work out at some point lol just i am having the main money bags managa to get a working site up and

running. So can't change host and i am not paying out of the nose that the other companys pack its out of my buget and the manage says no more founds from there end.

I am just lost cos its a diff error each time a file pormission here a javascript there the GD lib over useing the servers limits i had a simple fix for testing to bypass that but the site became very slow ini_set("memory_limit","64M");

is this 2 small fose it need to be more then 64 M?

Ya i know its been 3 days but i have other sits i muct work on so time is limited i will be learing the script more in my spare time

but time is not spare right now lol.

eveything the script asked for the blue host say thay provide but soon as i installed it to the server server stated went

a little crazy.

I thank you all for your reply i dose clearly seem to be a config conflicet but i would like to know if there work arounds for now

Thanks.

If you are having money problems for a good host... a very good host and cheap server... (I have no affiliation to them apart from the fact that this is my second year with them) is http://www.siteground.com/

they do not have dolphin but so far their server enviroments supports dolphin and I have not contacted at all for any problem associated with dolphin.

Please do not take this as an add for them, it is just a suggestion for a cash strapped person.
