Site broken in Chrome and Safari browsers

Does anyone know why the Ray Suite plugins do not work when sites are viewed in both the Google Chrome and Safari browsers? And what can be done about it?

Anyone? I've updated to the very latest version of Java, as I thought it may be something to do with that, but they still do not work.

Don't know why this is by your browsers. I have no problems with Chrome nor Safari.

Thanks killerhaai. Csmosx alerted me to ti the other day, noticing the change after updating to Safari 4 (See topic: http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/#topic/Safari-4.htm )

Please could you do me a favor and look at the shoutbox (for example) on the home page of my  6.1.6 site http://www.communitynursesnetwork.com ? In IE and Firefox the shoutbox loads and is open ready to type into. In Safari and Chrome all I see is the name, and none of the other Ray plugins are functional, either.

You help much appreciated!

Hi Steve,

I have logged in to your site, and on top I see a empty shoutbox. Only the block is visible but not the shoutbox themeselves. This was tested in Chrome...

Oke this is not a Chrome problem but a Dolphin problem, I see that ist a  client site the same..... Also here the  shoutbox is empty.

That's extremely helpful! Do you know which build of Dolphin the site you can see that is working OK in Chrome/Safari, is? If we can narrow down the problem, someone may be able to point to a solution.

(The other thing I was wondering about is whether a site that does work is using a local Ray server (RMS) instead of the Boonex one.)

I don't use chrome or safari normally, my standaard browser is Opera for years now and Firefox for administration..
So I have no idea I know that 6.1.2 had not this problem. After version 6.1.4 - 6.1.5 and 6.1.6 there are more problems then before. But every browser has his own problems. Like opera is working with no problems to view Dolphin, but don't work in administration the site.

There is always somewhere a problem by every brower.. :)

Following my earlier thought, maybe there is some setting in Chrome and Safari that stops them accessing the connection to the Boonex Ray server (RMS). Any ideas, anyone?

Its nothing with RMS server because I don't use any rms server. The shoutbox works also without this server.
So it must be something else...

RMS server is only needed for if you want to record video and for the video/audio chat.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm new to this software. Good, so that's another potential problem eliminated.

I've been looking at the page source code for the shoutbox. I see it uses both flash and javascripts. I've made sure my browsers all have the latest flash version, so I wonder if we have tracked it down to the way the browsers handle javascripts - something I know nothing about!

I'm also looking at all the referenced file paths to give them permissions 777 just in case a lower permission is tripping up the processes. Will report back.

Changing the directory permissions didn't help.

Have now fired up my old laptop and tried the site in IE6. The shoutbox loading gets a bit further, in that the box expands and the revolving loader graphic appears, but there it hangs.

I'm coming more and more to the conclusion it must be a javascript thing. Are there any javascript experts out there??

More and more convinced it is something to do with Java and not connecting to the Ray server. See this Chrome issue on Google: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1882. It mentions that it is a problem for Safari too, and they seem to think they have solved it - but Ray shoutbox etc, still doesn't work.

To make matters worse, it is now hanging (with gray rotating circle) for me in Firefox and IE7! I know what I did to cause it, but I can't undo the problem... What I did was to go into Control Panel (I'm using XE) > Java Control Panel >  Advanced > Default Java for browsers (where both IE and Mozilla Family were checked) and unchecked Mozilla. That caused the problem, and checking both boxes again has not solved it.

Have sorted this problem at least... it wasn't anything to do with the Java Control Panel stuff, it was because I'fd changed the /ray/XML.php file permission from 644 to 777. Now I have changed it back, it is fine.

I don't suppose there is anything to do with this going on with Safari and Chrome?

UPDATE: Yes, it is a problem with the browsers. The problem is being worked on in the 'Shoutbox' topic on the Pundit forum. Check there for latest news on this.

I know this is an old post, but I am having this issue with my new website.

The shoutbox, video uploads and few other features are not working. I tried the link given below, but it is giving an error.

"Access denied. You must have advanced status at least to access this area or you are not logged in."
