Site Speed

Hi,

I have loaded Dolphin onto my HostMonster hosted site, www.sailingmix.com and it works. However, the speed is not too good and I wonder if anyone has any ideas about how to get the speed to increase?

Should I change the template to a lower graphics one?

Is there and files which I can delete or edit which will reduce the laod on the server?

Thanks for your thoughts in advance,

David

Hi Bozward,

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your site, it loads at the same speed on IE and Firefox browsers.

When going through each page it loads an average of 5 to 8 secs (from what I understand Dolphin has many commands when accessing pages so it is looking into the database etc and then sends the info to the browser), but it seems normal.

Your template is OK and your site is loading quite fast for me (ADSL 5000Ko connection)...

That you can do is to optimize your database tables from time to time and eventualy increase the RAM of your server. If you are using RMS you need at least 256 Mo RAM.

You also can disable from your Admin Panel - Builders all the items that you don't need...

no this means he is on shared hosting and they put 1000 - 1500 sites on one shared server, in his case thats 1,103 other sites fighting for a share of the cpu and ram on that server.

wow! thanks.

Thanks for that. It's always nice to hear that the installation worked. Now I need to get some more users.

Thanks,
