Simple Chat from AntonLV

This is a support forum for our Simple Chat module.

I tested the demo site, this simple cat is very promising, I look forward to integrating the management level member and an audible notification.

In this regard Anton, I noticed on the demo site that the number of new messages in the member bar is updated only after refresh the page, is this normal?

Imagine a member who does not move on the site andis not always front of the screen, it may be too late for new messages. Failing Audible notification, it takes at least an updated real-time communication ...

I say again, I atteds forward, it is very well done, simple and effective.

This is a Dolphin's 7.1 bug which was fixed in 7.1.4 (values in member menu are being updated live normally without page refreshing). For those who are running D7.1.0-D7.1.3 it is necessary to edit the file template/base/extra_top_menu.html and replace two occurrences of "td.bubble_count" with "span.bubble_count".

So will adding support of membership levels and integrating Messenger Sound Notification make this module perfect for you? :)

Anton , nothing is ever perfect! :-) Your package already brings a few more compared to the original , full chat page , friendly presentation Automatically Makes all links in the post clickable (I saw you added it :-)) , full service history .

But I did not want to lose Audible notification and control membership level . The first because my limbs are used as the second because I can not give control of messenger members promoting before you enable the standard level. ( provided by the ravages fake profiles ) .

It is especially this last point that bothers me .

Now, if you're bored , I have other ideas for improvement to make it even more attractive and comfortable :-) Dont quite simple, a camera icon in order to launch the application directly from video messenger window messenger is an example. But this is not a requirement , it's more comfort .

 The module was updated. New in 1.2 version:

• Integrated with Dolphin's membership levels system. Thus the ability to send messages can be fully controlled via membership levels settings.
• Sound notification upon receiveing a new message in chat window
• Sound notification upon receiveing a popup notification about a new message even when not in chat

Yes, our demo is D7.1.0. But I've applied the fix to it now so it properly updates the counters in member menu.

Thank you for the update, mas I have a problem with this new version 1.2 as 1.1 worked.

When I install it, the member bar disappears and the outline has a display on a single column. When I uninstall version 1.2, everything is in order.

My site is 7.1.4, I guess as she works on your demo site 7.1, the problem must come from there ...

The cause of my problem was just a conflict with Messenger Sound Notification .

This problem is corrected in the new version, thank you for the help and the bug fixed.

Some ideas for version 1.3 :-)

• Adding smiley
• Interdict chat with a member who has blocked you. (important)
  
• Notify when the corresponding write his answer.

These are good points, I must admit.

Meet the 1.3 version in the nearest future.

Idea for chat

• Icon video messenger (default bonnex)
• Admin monitor all message (delete,block user...other)
• spam block message (with words) expl. words "SEXY GIRL" is blocked, in chat see "xxxxxxx" same with url or mail
• In chat page remove CTRL+ENTER (send only with ENTER) and add CTRL+ENTER for double line
• Add mini chat window

And ... since it is possible to contact members of line (you forgot to put it on the presentation of the market), an email notification when the member is not online. :-)

Thanks. Probably there will be a separate module added to our "Spy" series.

Well, I'm sure that if someone wants to share his email or some kind of a link - he will find a way of doing this, besides of that it is in conflict with another feature - automatic making of links clickable (youtube links sharing f.ex). But a simple words filter could be added I believe, just to replace a filthy language.

Anton I also thought of something, your cat success on my site, members say, I did not like the cat, that is nice, I'll start using it. Then the infinite history is good, but absolutely provide automatic cleaning for months older than x messages, otherwise I fear for my database :-) (just add option in advanced settings -> Pruning)

I also thought your excellent couple Scam Net module, I spotted a lot of scammers using this module and it would be really good, but in the case of the simple chat, simply report the message, do not especially the block. Members should be aware that we spy and in this case, it's live ...

Yes! I am very excited by this module and you see that there's not just me. This is proof that you correct a big gap dolphin. The original simple messenger is not up to the rest ...

And also there is a block on the action block on account page call " my chat"  when a member click on that call " My chat" he or she should be able to see offline friends and online friends there.

it should not be empty. Some of the members even asking what it is for? I know it is there IF someone sent a text but at the same time. it's bored when someone that did not receive any text click on it.. it  is very confusing for them..

Therefore; I believe when someone click on "my chat" there should be filter for offline friends and online friends there.

 I do not understand your online friends you already have in the member bar ...

 What I was talking about on "My Chat" there should be a block there where you can  see  or chat with your online friends. Just an empty block say "My Chat" is not attractive for most members. I believe something is missing there.. I strongly believe it can be improved.

 Sorry, I don't understand what kind of block do you talking about. The module do not adds any page blocks anywhere. Or if you meant the member menu item "My Chats" (the one in the FB-like bottom menu bar) then that item is exactly for listing latest member's chats, and if there are no chats then it must be empty. I strongly believe it shouldn't be replaced with a friends list because there is already a friends list with online/offlite filters in that bar out of the box and also because a member can have chats not only with his friends and must have somehow access to all latest chats. If you want to make it less confusing then perhaps the "Empty" text can be replaced with something more explanatory like f.ex. "You don't have any chats yet..."

This would be a good idea Anton, but you use the common "empty" key is true that we could put a message to encourage the member to start conversation, but why should a unique key to your module if this is not feasible.

In the new version the unique key will be used there. For those who want to do it right now:

edit the file modules/aqb/simple_chat/classes/AqbSimpleChatModule.php, the line

if (!$iCount) MsgBox(_t('_Empty'));

replace with

if (!$iCount) MsgBox(_t('_aqb_simple_chat_empty'));

And then add the language key _aqb_simple_chat_empty via admin panel with any text you want.

 What's the difference again? Shouldn't it be just a regular update for the first one???????? Hmmm

 We are always making regular updates in case of minor changes/fixes. If features list is changing heavily then it becomes a major version with an increased price. In this particular case the Chat had become not quite Simple so the price must be changed, but we can't change the price of an existing product.

You only pay the price difference between version 1.0 and version 2.0, as it is written on the forum version 2.0. That's what I did and seeing the hard work has been done on the 2.0 version, I find it normal to pay the fee. If the base is Identical, it is true that all of the added features give a completely different product. We in version 2.0, everything we asked above and more reliable support in case of problems. For a total of $ 60 is very reasonable ...

The simple chat dont work, we need to pay for this update simple chat 2 ? are you serious ?

 That post was added when Simple Chat 1.0 was supported yet. So yes, upgrade between versions had cost the difference at that time. Now taking into account the fact that the version 1.0 is not supported anymore we can switch you to the newer version for free. Done.
