Should we display DMCA & Copyright notice?

I was browsing through different websites and on all of them in my country i have seen  DMCA & copyright notice mentioning they respect bla bla bla and will remove the content if it violates the copyright of others. but they have to provide a long list of document. So i was wondering wouldn't it be wise to add these notices to avoid any legal complication cause dolphin websites are meant to be violated by members in term of wrong use. Social networking is all about sharing others stuff these days. So any suggestions here from experts?

As far as I know, all you really need is a registered agent, and you're in compliance.

As HL stated, you really have to have filed with the copyright office (USA), pay the fee, and designate an agent.  If outside the USA (the DMCA is a USA law) I would check what the laws state for the country you reside in.

In that case, just do whatever you want. No one will come looking for you.

If you publish or use the creative work of others, their trademarks, or certain confidential business information without the permission of the owner, you may be exposing yourself to legal liability for violations of intellectual property law. Fortunately, if you allow your site's user to post this type of content you can protect yourself from copyright infringement claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), as long as you establish effective "notice-and-takedown" procedures, promptly remove content when a copyright owner notifies you that it is infringing, and have no knowledge that the material in question is infringing.  This page explains how this important law works.

Yes, we know about this.  Like we said, all you need to do is register an agent.
