Have you tried to recompile language in admin section -> Modules -> Forum and the compile lang en?

This worked for me for the french translation as I had similar problems (thanks Fred by the way)

It's not a problem of the template, just a bug of D7.1

Fixed any issue with the Forum

You must upload the files for the main template and the modules (Boonex simple_messenger and forums).

Then remember to compile the languages

I want to change the gray background to an image. Which .css do I need to edit? I though it would be common.css, but this did not work. I want to add:

 I only received an answer to one of my two emails. Please answer one about changing colors and splash screen.

My site logo is a little larger than the one in the demo and so I needed to make the search box smaller and move it to the right a bit in general.css. However, now, I see that when you go to your profile or account page, the menu floats too high (See attached photo).

What is this menu called in css and where what settings can I change to drop the menu down lower as it appears in your demo?

I asked the same thing of them and their answer was to use a smaller logo, LOL. I have asked them a few questions about how to change a couple of items with the template, but they do not answer. I think you have to dangle money in front of their face to get any information to change their template.

They also list a "Free" splash screen in the market for Shark and Manta templates... http://www.boonex.com/m/dolphin-7-1-splash-page. It is only free to "look at" in the market. Very misleading and deceptive. They will fix what is broken, but will ignore all emails about enhancing or helping you make a change. I gave them multiple chances to assist me before exposing the truth about them.

I feel bad that it has come to this because I like the template, but they do not operate with the same morals and integrity as the others in the market. I will only change this post if they do the right thing and answer my emails with "solutions" instead of excuses.

Hmmm I have found them to be amazing in all aspects of support and additional work.  Recently I think they have been swamped with the changes to 7.1 and I think they lost some programmers.  As far as morally I have never felt it was about money with them EVER!!!! The response time has slowed quite a bit but again I was told they are short staffed... 

As I said, they did fix everything that was broke and they did it quickly. Everything else goes unanswered as the posts above from 16 days ago. The "free" splash page in the market is bad too. All other splash pages in the market have a price. Being told it is free "to look at" in the market is mis-leading.

I've abandoned their Shark template for now due to no response to one of my emails and my posts here in the forum.

A template is a model and you pay for this.

The customization is another thing and it's not a free service.

If there is a bug every seller must solve it. But for the changes you want apply to the default model, you can require a quote.

When you pay a template, you have the right to have what you see into the market post (and to see the live demo we have installed every template in a demo site as specified) and for the customization you can write at our email address.

About the splash page, as explained the screenshot you see into the market post are only examples, these are only images and so this is the reason you see Free.

On the market there are many post where the price is FREE, because there are only some example of a possible result for a work.

Anyway, the first line of this market post is:

"Here Two example of custom splash page you can require to your template SHARK or MANTA"

and after the screenshot, you can see

"For informations or to require a quote, contact us via Boonex messages or directly via email at info@ilbellodelweb.it"

So we think it's clear that this is an example and to get this service you must pay.

We have not published a price because the price is the result of your specific request.

It's right, the new version of Dolphin (7.1) is not a simple update, it's a revolution. So all the sellers are very busy in order to release the compatible version of their modules, and also consider that never we have received a date for the the release of D7.1 beta1 and beta2.

Just another information.

For the template customization, you can use a very interesting tool called "Firebug" available for the browser Mozilla Firefox.

I will try that fix also and take back my over opinionated viewpoint of them. Hopefully if I contact them to create me a custom splash, they will want to deal with me. I am still kicking around several template options and have not locked in on any one in particular. I may buy their Manta template next. Black looks good with my site.

you have overwritten the files index.php and join.php for the use of the splash page. This is the reason you see only partially the result of the splash page you see on our demo site.

If you want use the default join page, open the file (into the root) join.php and change the row:

from:

$_page['name_index'] = 1000;

to

$_page['name_index'] = 81;

The default template dont includes the splash page that is a separated service as you can read on the market post description.

Released another update that improves the popup view when you are with the mouse over the profile's thumb.

If you have already installed the version of February 13, you have to upload only the html files of the template and then to empty the cache.

February 21, the update released today fix the color for the search box, the color (onfocus) has been changed from gray to white.

You can only overwrite the file tmpl_shark/css/general.css

Fixed the issue with the dark background color for the login/join box (for who have not installed the optional splash page)

So Im guessing it isnt responsive then? damn. it looked promising too.
