Setting up a Dedicated Server for 7

Is there anything more specific than what dolphin 6 requires to know about setting up a dedicated server from godaddy with the simple control panel?

Thank

I am running down a problem now that relates to godaddy. I have dolphin 6 on a  server at godaddy and it is running fine. I have uploaded dolphin 7 on my dev box running FC11 and it works great. When I try to install on the godaddy server running FC7 the menu system no longer works when using SEO friendly url's. If I kill the the SEO frienldy type urls the modules work but the forum still doesn't work I am not sure if the problem is directly caused by fedora or the version of apache I am running. The point I am trying to make in regards to this post is godaddy said the farthest they can update fedora on my server is FC8, so if the problem is with version less than 10 or 11 then godaddy may not be the best option for you. If anyone out there is aware of a similar problem to what I am having please upload a link. Thanks I wil try to uplaod the version of apache and php I am running as that may be give some clues to the possible problem as well. OF course Yum says all the packages are up to date on the non-working server.

Interesting problem. Are you using cpanel or simple control panel?

not typically. I typically SSH into the box using putty and control everything. here is more details regarding the problem in this thread. I ahve tried all of the suggestion and nothing is solving it yet. I'm about ready to order a server of my own colo it somewhere or maybe drop a T1 into my house if nothing else.

someone just gave me the answer to my problem and everything is working now. it ended up being the apache config file, but what baffles me is the dolphin 6 worked fine and according to the apache docs if it was set the way I had it .htaccess would always be ignored. Here is the thread

so to respond to your original question. I'm not sure if it can be done completely through the control panel, but if you have any probelms and aren't familiar with SSH and getting around the linux file structure, I will be glad to help if I can. just pm me.
