Setting blog permissions

Hi all,

I know that it's frustrating to deal with noobs (like me) who have such obvious questions. For my part, I've designed quite a few html sites over the past decade, but I'm clueless about php and, well, many of the other languages Dolphin incorporates.

If it's any incentive to help, I do have a timely concept for the site with incredibly altruistic goals. I'm not simply looking to create a hobby for myself or a little extra income. With luck, and if I can execute the site properly, it has the potential to help a significant number of people. In time, the plan is to bring on a professional designer, but for the time being, it's just me and I could use all the help I can get.

So, now that my heart-felt plea is out of the way, my questions will rather basic, and I'll more than likely need a little hand-holding (e.g., step by step instructions).

First noob question...

Is it possible to allow members to control access to the personal blog on their profile without effecting the rest of their profile? What I need is to allow a member to set permission for their blog to: a) public, b) 100% private, or c) viewable to other members by invitation only. Regardless of blog permission, their profile should still be available to everyone.

Hello Pexie,

Noob questions are just fine, as long as they're valid and you have obviously taken the time to find the answer yourself first...  We are all noobs at one time, and someone helped us.

The answer to your question is yes, and no.  You can set a blog to:

post comment permissions
public
friends only
read permissions
friends only
public

This will only affect the blog and not the profile.

Currently, these are the only permissions I know of.

Thanks.

Adam
