I have a project I have thought about for years, and a few months ago, I decided to go for it. It's called the "Virtual Brain Trust Cooperative" and the basic idea is to get a group of professional to use a bit of their extra "brain power" to help other members, and themselves. The basic way we would like to do this, is by facilitating the formation of small teams that brainstorm to offer ideas, advice, suggestions and to help each member move forward in his or her personal life, business and/or career. You can read more about the thinking and background of this concept at this link: http://goo.gl/HxDGE
I don't intend to make any profit at all from this site, but I do intend to make money from the advice I get from my own team, and hopefully other projects. I already have several volunteer - a few writers and content creators - even a PHP programmer, but she doesn't know Dolphin. I am ok at this stuff, but I frequently get stuck, and I could really use the assistance of someone who knows their way around Dolphin. Right now, I especially need help with the groups module but could also use advice an assistance on any and all ways to make the service better. Someone who has good technical know how with Dolphin and has operated a site in the real world would be especially helpful.
The site has been developed, and even has its first few members - you can see it here: http://VirtualBrainTrust.org. I don't anticipate any problem getting new members - I have a fairly large number of people on Google+ who are interested - some of them intensely interested, but I need to make sure the site works acceptly well, and some of our procedures are more worked out, before I start to promote it actively.
Please let me know if you are interested in helping out. It is a really good cause.

Hi Rob,
Count me in... sometimes these things need the imbalance of the mentaly unstable....
Have you thought ablout using the board module as some kind of virtual mind mapping area where everyone can contribute to the mind map? Its a fantastic way to organicaly grow ideas and find solutions....

Outstanding! You are EXACTLY the kind of person I was hoping to attract. Please start by putting a profile up at http://VirtualBrainTrust.org and I will be contacting you shortly. Do you have an account on Google+ by any chance? I have been using the video conferencing system there for meetings. I like your idea about the board module. I'll be in touch.

Hi rob...
the site is running 404. I will try again tomorrow dude.
|
Not for me, been using it all morning here. |
No idea why, but when I click that link I also get a 404, but when I cut and paste it into a new tab, it works fine. Boonex. |
Here's why. When you click that link, it goes to http://www.boonex.com/forums/virtualbraintrust.org
Not sure why that would be - I put the link in properly.

Cheers Rob....
Will get onto it thisevening.

Outstanding. Midnight here and will be hitting the hay shortly. Will activate your account first thing in the morning. Might try to put up your whiteboard idea before I go to bed.
Cheers

I just wanted to mention, that I would still welcome the involvement of other developers here. The help we have had from Nathan has been fantastic - the site is much better as a result of some of his help, but I wouldn't mind having an extra set of eyeballs or two. People who have had experience developing these systems in the real world would be especially helpful. I think our interface could use improvements in an number of areas, and their may be some mods we should consider. Please put up a thoughtful profile if you join there though - you might even meet some cool people to work with.

ummmmm...Thinking...do I have time/ |
Well, your profile says you are "an entrepreneur facing the challenges of business" so you might as well join the club :-) |
its an interesting site presscon. It is a good idea, and I do think that with good support it has a decent chance because of the entriprunerial aspect of the site.
Cal, I had all my e-mail depeted on my PC so I didnt get to see any invites to groups etc.

Hey Nathan - you haven't missed too much - but those messages should be on the site. I have a bunch of mass mailer emails stuck in the queue we could help you with. Lil has tried two different chrons but we can't get them to go out. Got some great new members - not growing really fast - about two or three a day maybe, but some of them are really enthused - not sure if I want it to grow much faster than that till it is a bit more organized. I am going to reinstall the sites module next with a fresh set of files - see if I can get it to work this time. Lots of resources for entrepreneurs, and that would be a good place to organize them. I do hope we can get one or two other Dolphin folks. |
Mass mailer is a friggin nightmare. I dont now why dolphin bothers with it unless they can get it to work.
When I get the time I will start work on a Conative toolbox which will be a set of videos that demonastrate the pricbles of mindmapping, organic menmonic memory, flow charts etc. I was looking to find a way to get the boards module to link to the groups, so every group could hacve its own board for brainstorming etc. I think the best bet may be to write one from scratch in something like java and insrt it onto the groups page. Will see wha I can come up with.
I think the members are very entusiastic, but for many, just like me its a case of finding the time....
