Safari 4

Safari 4 just came out.

Many Ray flash apps like Shoutbox and chat seem to be broken in it.

Can anyone else verify this?

(didn't know if this should go in Ray forum or this one. Maybe that one should be renamed Ray Server.)

Yes, not working in Google Chrome, either. I notice they often seem to have simillar bugs. I suspect it's something to do with the way they handle - or not - CSS or Javascripts, but not being a very technical person, I don't really know. Hope the Boonex guys are going to look into it PDQ - or is that too much to hope? I see people in the forums are also reporting problems with IE6, although that's not much of a surprise. However, these browser issues do need to be sorted out by someone :-)

Thank you for verifying, stevehards.

Yes, I only saw one ticket (from 2007) referencing Safari in their Trac tickets, so it doesn't seem to be on their radar at this time.

I have no idea exactly how to get it on their radar, however.

Cest la vie.

Yes, it's a problem they should be taking seriously, even if the answer ultimately lies in something to do with the Safari and Chrome browsers. Chome, with all Google's promotion of it, will become popular and we need to be able to tell users what to do if they need to change a setting or something.

I've tried updating to the latest Java runtime environment (currently 6.14) but that has not helped.

As for getting the developer's attention, I don't know! I think I'll start a few other browser-related forum topics in the hope that one of them comes to their notice. Keep a look out Smile

No need - the solution is with the browsers. See the Shoutbox Problem post in the Pundits Forum, into which answers to this are now being fed.

I'm currently having issues where the flash applications for board and chat will not load when using Safari 4 on OSX 10.5.8.  I've tested my whole site on just about every user agent for Windows and Linux and don't have any problems across the board.  I've even used Safari on Windows and don't have any problems with the boards or chat feature loading.  Safari on Mac produces a page with a template and no content in between the header and footer.  I dont' have any of the other Ray tools enabled on the site, but Web Presense does work fine in the presense popup.

I tried clicking on the link provided, but get a permission denied error  What's the current situation with Safari and Dolphin 6.1.6 and RMS 3.5.2?

I'm having the same issues, which sucks!  But also, the link provided for info on this is taking me to a page that says I don't have access to read the pages without being logged in (which I am).  Anyone else seeing that here?

I can't read the link provided either -- says I don't have permission even though I'm a paid licensed user of Dolphin.  I also emailed my "agent" about this issue.

If you can't have the original, I'll give you the next best thing: another forum post.

OK, so my only answered Ray post ever here I answered myself. Thanks me. You've been a great help, lol.

I thought I'd tell the community for the community's sake.

Locate the file:
inc/js/ie7_flash_fix.js

You need to replace line 11 which is currently:
var ie = (document.defaultCharset && document.getElementById && !window.home);

with:
var ie = (document.defaultCharset && document.getElementById && !window.home && window.XMLHttpRequest && document.all);

Have fun.

Magnussoft, thanks much for the fix.  Changing that javascript fixed my Safari problems.

Thanks Magnussoft!!

You have got to be fuxin' kidding me.... That was the cause of the problem? I've been trying to tackle this issue for a month now, all along thinking it was a bug with Safari only to find out that BOONEX was the trouble. I swear to god that this is one of the worst platforms I've ever had the misfortune of using.

Magnussoft, you're a life saver - thanks for the re-post. It worked great for me.
