SUCCESSFULLY REBRANDED AN IPHONE AP?

Had anyone successfully rebranded an IPHONE AP and if so...

  1. Did you have any barriers to entry?
  2. What made it easy?
  3. What was difficult?
  4. What can you share with us?
  5. What was the process you used?
  6. Do you feel the BOONEX rebrand Iphone AP is all it says it is?

Thanks!

Not yet, but working on it.

Would be nice if there was directions for removing the add site parts of the app, set the website domain, and only present the user name, password, remember me (when the app first starts).

My main barrier is Apple, still waiting for my Dev Lic..

Hi LeatherSportB,

Have you figured it out how to remove the "add site" part of the app ?

Regards,

Vadim.

Not yet, but  I have not put a lot of time in to it.

If people are interested in a re-branding service I may put more time in to it.

I might be interested in the service if you ever get it going.  I also have an Ipad if you would like to send something along when its complete.

Cheers

Has anyone every successfully re-branded and published their app to the App store?

Post your app name here and please respond to the questions at the top of this thread.

Also, what entails permission to "re-brand" the app? Do we have full access to the code? Or, do we only have access to layout?

Thanks!

Re-branding the IPHONE application was fairly easy even without experience (first time messing with XCODE/Objective C was two weeks ago). For the most part you just change out images and change the info.plist file to change the name of the application. It wouldn't take long putting together instructions.

Images to be changed in Resources/img

- oo.png (main icon that displays in the middle)

- app-icon.png  (believe this has to be 57 x 57) - application icon displays when the application is not loaded but is the icon to allow you to open the application.

- dolphin-title.png (this is what displays in the title bar)

INFO.plist has an application title

I was also able to remove the add site and just configure the site domain in the configuration file and removing the textbox, label from the login and skipping the add site view entirely grabbing the saved Login if there was one.

I hope this helps anyone needing to re-brand the application.

We haven't put it out on the ITUNES store as we are making modifications to it. The IPHONE application causes too many database connections on our hosting provider... Believe I know how to fix that as well.

You have access to the full code all the controllers and everything so you can do anything you want with the application. The application interacts with the xmlrpc directory and everything within the application can be changed once you have the source code.

Hope that helps

There's no point of posting if you are not willing to share what you have archive. It may be easy for you. But stil many iphone app customers like me waiting for this. If you can please provide the modification as a service in the market so we will pay for it.

Thanks

ok here we go.

I changed all the logos in the source files.

Now, can anyone tell me what strings I need to change in the INFO.plist file? Do I need to change all the Dolphin and Boonex words within the <string>STRINGS</string>?

and is there any other file I need to do changes to rebrand?

I have zero knowledge here and of course don't want to entirely mess it all up!

I changed inside Localizable.strings what was needed.

you can get an emulator to run your changes on. you can also on the iPhone install the app for testing purposes. i dont think anybody has written a how-to on these mobile solutions.

Getting the Xcode 4 was a big pain the Butt and I had to load it twice to get it to work. After an hour of looking at it and then seeing the pages in the editor, I was confused with the "about page!" It appeared to be an easy edit but I was wondering why the page was not the same as the actual AP in the AP store nor the same that comes up my Iphone or IPad. It also was a version number behind I think 1.3 vs 1.4. I was confused immediately because of this...... Am I to assume that this was done just because you know it is going to be rebranded so who cares what it says? LoL the majority of the rebranding appears to be replacing pictures and the ABOUT page which was not mentioned in another rebranding post........

use itunes, and put the app in itunes on your local machine, and then push the app over to the phone for testing purposes.

@DosDawg thank you so much but I could not place my app at ITunes. Is there a specific folder where I have to place the app? I did try offline but could not manage it :-)

I found this on google:

How to test my iphone app in my iphone, instead of the simulator?

This is covered in the iPhone Development Guide.

So, I will have to pay 100$ even to test it on my own device?

Yes to test it on your own device you will need to pay the $100 to grab the certificate, unless your device is jailbroken.

I found it at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1978836/how-to-test-my-iphone-app-in-my-iphone-instead-of-the-simulator.

It's good to know cos then we know :-)

I did my time and thought a few times to brake out of jail :-) I'm serious, to get another spy on to your phone can cause a crash. So I think people should be aware that a jailbroken can harm badly :-)

Did I get a bit too deep into that now?

Life is beautiful and I would love to get my apps going :-)

im not sure if you have to submit the $100.00 fee prior to testing, and i would presume not. you build and compile, load it on iTunes, then cable your phone to the computer, install the app from iTunes, to your iPhone, and test drive the app.
