SPAM everyday all day

SPAM

We receive a ton of SPAM members everyday.. we have Captcha installed ands also another module called Logical Captcha: http://www.boonex.com/m/logical-captcha

However, we still receive a tremendous amount of spam members everyday... Spam members are in the thousands..

How can we prevent this for good? I am willing to pay someone for this fix?

There are many topics here, mainly the "human" question to add to the join form.

I guess your still in 7.0.x, you should consider upgrading to the latest, has tons of new anti-spammer features.

If you need help I will do it for you at a very minimal price.

Start here... http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/spam-spam-spam-spam-IDEA-.htm#150957

No need to pay anyone for this; there are several topics to help on this.  The biggest fix for me was to split the join form and put in a maths question on both the first page and the last page.  I got a spam account the other day but I was getting several per day before I made that change.

Go out of Boonex.  Use Bing or Google or whatever your favourite and you can search on Boonex Spam and Boonex anti-spam and find the topics you need to fix this.

Human question worked wonders for me. Only took two days of spam on a new site for me to add it. Since then I have only had 3 human spammers in 3 months. I also recommend blocking Mainland China.

yep. Human question, plus split the join form onto an additional page.

Most of the standard spam bots are pre loaded to deal with the regular boonex join page being on one. If you dont know how to do it just ask :-)

You will prob still get some, as some bizzarre companies pay human spammers!

They get me every time... cant even count the number of Ugg boots I have now...

And what is human question.. is this a module or addon?

This is a core mod, or just some simple guidelines on how to "prevent" spammers.

7.1.3 has some pretty impressive spam blocking so far. Impressive, but these step are still necessary to keep your site clean.

Thank you for the video, I split the join form.. Now I will see if that works..

In regards to the human question.. is this located somehwere in the dashboard? I do not see it.. I greatly appreciate all of your help and advice!

A human question is a question that only a human can answer that you put on your join form. A simple question like what is the color of the sky, or what is 5+5 or something that a human has to answer. There are a few examples in the forums.

There are also spam fighting options in the market as well that do not require complicating your join form. http://www.boonex.com/m/dolphin-anti-spam

Thanks!! Splitting up the join page seems to have stopped the spam for now! Thank you so much!

One more question.. we had our site taken down by Hostmonster becuase the Dolphin databse was overloaded with Spam comments.. they said like 6.5 GB of spam comments...

Should these methods also prevent that from happening again?

 Your welcome.

In 7.1.3 we have lot's of new features to battle spam, but since your at 7.0.x, [edited by newton27] Deanos spam tool is the best way to go.

Adding the join form mod can be a bit much if your new to Dolphin.

I split the join page just like the video and tested it and it worked fine and within one minute I had a spammer join below. Looks like the spammers figured this out. What baffles me is I cannot track them in my statcounter code like I can everyone else. Could they be using my mobile apps to join? I cannot track my mobile apps because the developer who branded them said I cannot add tracking code to them.

I don't see them as well, these are bots.

I have given up on the splitting or human questions.

My savior has been one module,

Bot Stopper - Automatic SPAM fighter

http://www.boonex.com/m/bot-stopper-automatic-spam-fighter

I'll go so far to say if this module does not stop your spam and bot sign ups, I'll send you a refund myself!

This module has locked me out of my site just from experimenting with spam or spamming post!

I also have a spam filtering module that stops bots and more. http://www.boonex.com/m/dolphin-anti-spam Simple install and does not require a captcha if you don't want one. I actually do not use a captcha on my site anymore.

The recaptcha is there for people like Newton, so they do not lock them selves out, but it's not an essential part of the module.
