SOPA and PIPA

Here in the US we have SOPA and PIPA coming up for a vote in the house and senate.  You folks had better pay attention to these two bills.  SOPA , the STOP ONLINE PIRACY ACT  (SOPA, H.R. 3261) and PIPA, the PROTECT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ACT (PIPA, S. 968) will make the website owner/operator, responsible for all material uploaded to their website.  As the law reads now, the person uploading the material is responsible for getting the copyright release.  Get more info, click HERE to go to the sopa blackout page.

A guy just got extradited from the UK to the USA for building a website that provided LINKS to other sites that provided downloads. Faces jail in the USA for this.

If this law passes, surely then GOOGLE and any other search engine would in fact be providing links to websites that provide downloads???

This law would if carried out to the full extent of the law, effect a massive amount of the most established and used websites out there...

This thing has a lot of people pissed off and I would be very surprised if it passes. I don't understand why these people feel we should spend our time and money to protect their copyright? If they want it then they need to find another way, one that dos not take away our freedom to exchange information. This is just another step towards socialism in the US.

Give me something to believe in...
