Yes, it does create a dolphin account on first use. Just like the boonex version. The email address it uses for the site is the same one it pulles from facebook.

It is very different to the janran mod. Janran uses openid where this uses the facebook api. It requires an app on the facebook side again just like the boonex version.

Thanks. The difference between using the facebook app and janrain open ID is what I needed to know! 

I find the Janrain one seems to slow things right down for future logins...

 Well there is one other difference i did not mention because i assumed it was already known. But i better mention it anyway.

Janran is able to authenticate with more than one social network. Facebook connect only authenticates with facebook. Nothing else.
