Run Your Computer As A Web Server

I have spent the last few days producing this..

It allows you to combine MySql, phpMyAdmin, Apache, Php5 and cube mail all into one and run them from your computer,, creating a web server on c:\...

Yes you can get winamp. xamp. wamp.  Etc but this way is the clean way without someone's package interfacing to your scripts.....

Well I tried xampp, wamp, and a host of other things ending in amp and they were continually throwing up scripting errors, so I sat down, installed and configured the scripts myself.....

So all I have done is produce an A to B for those that want to use these scripts without an interface (Control!!!) it’s as simple as that.

Take it or leave it I have no issues whatsoever and it is there if people want to use it.

It is however styled for the complete novice not experts... It is an A to B of installing all these scripts and getting them to work in harmony....

I have produced this to allow even the less knowledgeable to perform these tasks to produce a web server on their computer with ease.

It is a selection of five install procedures followed by some simple configuration file edits.......

Hope you can make use of it?

If anything it will allow you to design or install any script for testing on localhost...

Maybe like the one on this site if you don’t have a server.

I currently have 84 scripts including this sites that I am testing or evaluating for clients.

I have a question, where is the Dolphin site that you have set up?

Your link is to some other format of a forum other than Dolphin..

If your setup is easy, that is great; will it process videos correctly?

This is a tried and proved method to setting up a server that will properly process videos, one of the hardest features to figure out with Dolphin.

You can also install ubuntu server 64bit plain.

Then install webmin (with the installer) and virtualmin (with the installer).

Webmin is the web based configuration tool for a unix based web server.

Virtualmin is a virtual host configuration tool for the above.

I clean installed the OS, then Webmin then Virtualmin (quad core AMD 3.0ghz with 12GB ram).

Setup my virtual host for dolphin and installed it (following the online guide), and got a BASE version of dolphin installed with no hiccups.

I run 3 copies of dolphin (live, developmental and stock) and several web sites off of it, several of which use wordpress.

You'll learn a GREAT deal about SSH and terminal commands.

Also, APTANA has an IDE that works with MAC, Linux, and Windoze.

So when I switch from my notebook (ubuntu 64 bit, quad core A6 with 4GB ram) to my Mac Mini (dual core intel with 4GB ram), I am still using the same application.

When copying the link, I cannot find your A to B for novice method for getting any of the scripts to work.  Its only a link to the same info here (without the actual tutorial) on another forum.
