Reinstalling server - Upgrading to a newer Linux

I'm running dolphin on my own linux server. Its running OpenSuSE 11.1. I want to install OpenSuSE 11.3 to utilize the trimming feature for SSD hard drives. This requires a fresh install of everything

If I have my MySQL database and website files saved to a DVD, what would be the best way of adding an existing installation to a new server?

Should I do a fresh install of dolphin and just replace the php and mysql files?

For starters, you can upgrade from 11.1 to 11.3. That said, if you want to do a fresh install, you can backup your files and database and once on the new system, put them back in place.

If you have a copy of the data base and /home/username/public_html    then just set up the new suse install set up the webserver make a user on the new install with the same user name and password from the old install and put the files back in the same location.

then set up the database the same way with the same user name and pass from the old install.  create a blank database and import the old db...

Sure ssd drives are nice for a handful of read and writes but when you get a couple 100 of them at the same time you will notice they become slower then a normal sata drive...  just my two cents.
