Registration verification by SMS

does anyone here has a tip or ready solution to verify an user registration by sms instead or additional to regualr email verification?

i was working on a solution for phone verification, but havent nailed the SMS option nor was it something we could feasibly suggest, because of the price point from the providers of the service. 

plan on rolling out the phone verification module soon
