Registration Integration

Hi all, as you can tell I am new here. I have been using Dragonfly CMS for more than 3 years now so my site is rather big with more than 1600 users and many articles and pictures so it would be very difficult for me to migrate everything to Dolphin. Since Dragonfly CMS is not friend and social neworking driven, I want to add Dolphin to it rather than migrating.
I have installed Dolphin 6.1 on a subdirectory called friends and I like to use the registration data from my Dragonfly database so that my users do not have to register on my Dolphin website to use it. So my question is can I turn the registration of my Dolphin website off and only use the registration data from my Dragonfly CMS and the user has only to register once?
Thank you very much and I appreciate any hints or suggestions. I am thrilled with Dolphin 7 and I think that couple it with my existing CMS would give me a good base.

You would have a better shot of this if you reversed your order.  Dragonfly is not a bad CMS, but it is not dominant as Dolphin is.  We've done similiar with phpBB3 by aligning the DB's & exporting the users from Dolphin over.

Now, you say you have 1600 members, why not align the DB's and import the members into Dolphin, then set it so the cookies are aligned with Dragonfly in the subdirectory position.  You achieving the same results, but your setting it so DF is a part of Dolphin then and much more likely to achieve success.

Dolphin has to many items it depends on being correct (like DOB) in order for it to run effectively and DF can be a good compliement, but not the other way around.

I doubt very seriously that something like that would work. Especially since most of Dolphin's features are based on user login/profile. I have not used DragonFly before but I can almost guarantee that you would have a very difficult time coding dolphin to integrate with your current database tables/configurations.

Thats just for starters. Sorry, but if someone here disagrees, by all means correct me.

Since I was typing this at the time Mydatery answered, I would totally agree with him. You would have a better chance of reversing your oder.

You both gave me a very interesting concept to think about. If anybody has any other hints or suggestions, please share.
